Wish I could have stayed longer
pro 2019
Mocona Falls was suggested to me by the good folks at the tourist info center at Colonia Carlos Pellegrini. I was very glad I went. The boat ride was one of the high points of my trip to Argentina.

Interesting place
kvě 2018 • Pár
So the falls are visible for most of the year, but after much rain the river level can rise so much that the falls effectively disappear and it just becomes a big lake. At its highest the falls can be 12m tall. It was 4m when we visited and still amazing to see, mainly because it is 3km long. It was difficult to find information beforehand about los Saltos so we did go to El Soberbio not knowing if we'd see anything. The tourist office there was helpful and did confirm the park was open. if the water level of the river was too high, the low lying bridge going into the park would be closed. When we visited in May 2018, there was only one bus going to los Saltos leaving at 8am and returning from the park at 5pm. You don't need a full day to visit this place, so having your own transport is far better. Apparently the flow of the water is affected by a dam that opens and closes, so Sunday and Mondays are apparently better days to view the falls. From Argentina side, you can only view the falls via a boat excursion. They charged 400 pesos for the 15 minute ride. Very expensive, albeit great experience. No one speaks English. There are two walking trails nearby where you can see wildlife if you're lucky. I won't go out of my way to visit los Saltos though.

A one of a kind attraction not to be missed.!! The whole region is well worth a visit, the real jungle in Argentina is here, what`s left of it...if you want to see majestuosity of plants and jungly places, this is it!..the region is fulled with falls, and paths to walk in the jungle and bird watch! a huge variety of birds, we saw more than 50! I highly recommend it.

Birding In Mocona
říj 2015
Mocona is a great and under visited birding locality in southeast Misiones, Argentina. The area around the falls, known as the Yaboti Biosphere Reserve, offers good birding. The only down side is that after heavy rain the falls themselves are not visible and even the access road 10 km before is sometimes closed off.

Get in touch with a local guiding service like Toucan Birding Guides for details of visibility of the falls and other relevant info.

Nice area around Iguazú. We discover this place thanks to local recommendation and we had a lovely stay in the area. The excursion to the park was really cool!

Beautiful

It's really a unique scenery because there is a crack in the river that forms a transversal fall. I wish the boat I hired had stayed longer.

Nice unique falls

The Mocona Falls are not huge ones like the nearby Iguazu Falls, but on the other hand they are very special because the water falls on the side, accompanying the river for a very long way, and the boats can go very close to the waterfalls.

We only did the boat trip and it was nice, lot's of water and some birds watching. Only 15 minutes long, but nice. We couldn't walk the trails through the jungle park that might be wonderful. Next time!
