About
Nestled on five acres of native Florida landscaping, our flagship museum at the County Government center in Naples offers newly created exhibits and galleries that capture the full panorama of local history. Pack a picnic and linger a while in the museum's shady backyard. Then do a little exploring on your own in our native gardens, restored Naples cottages, the archaeology lab, Seminole village or Calusa Indian camp. Enlarged twice, the museum's main gallery offers over 10,000 square feet of new displays, plus a traveling exhibit room, lecture hall, and gift shop.

Not a big museum, not a glamorous building, but a very informative and interesting one. It’s a free entrance. There are, I believe, four more provided by Collier County. Based on the experience visiting this one we intend to visit the rest ones. For people, like us, not knowing a lot of history of SW Florida, ideal place to learn more of it. We spend good 3 hours reading from panels and didn’t feel how fast the time past by.

Great little Museum with multiple buildings and outside area. Great history lesson of area. Part of the free museum system of Collier County. Located behind the municipal entrance complex. You can bring lunch and eat here, walk outside, see the little movie, great collection of artifacts. Definitely worth the visit. To see all might want to go when not raining

What a jewel! This outside living museum is informative and fun to visit. Count on at least an hour if not more. You will not be disappointed. It is an oasis in the middle of Naples.

There are three other county museums. We've visited three in total and have one more to go. We've loved them all.

I brought my family to this museum expecting the worst. We have a free museum here in lake county and it's pretty dull. We were very pleasantly surprised. There is quite a bit of information about the native Americans and early settlers on the inside portion of this museum. There is also alot to see and do outside. They have an old fashioned train, tank, swamp buggy, as well as a model fort. There is also a 1920's cottage you can go inside. We also found a native American art exhibit. My 8 year old daughter wasn't bored at all, and it's great to see some things are still FREE in this world.

We nursed our sunbaked skin today with some indoor activities in South Florida. The Collier County Museum was our first stop.

The indoor exhibit showcases the history of South Florida and the Everglades area. It is small but nicely done...lots of interesting reading and a good array of artifacts, fossils and other items.

Outside they have a Sherman tank, replica of a fort, Seminole "chickee" hut, and a few other notable items spread out along a pathway. My kids spent about an hour wandering around the museum before their interest waned and they focused on climbing the trees between the outdoor exhibits.

I wouldn't say that the Collier County Museum is integral to your Naples-area vacation, but it is definitely worth a quick stop if you are interested in the history of the area...or if you're looking to dodge the UV rays for a few hours!

I had hoped to learn about the history of SW Florida, and I wasn't disappointed. A great overview of all layers of the region's history. Fascinating story of the building of the Tamiami Trail. Awful history of the various native people who used to live there. The first white settlers (the ones making a personal living, not the rapacious developers) seemed very interesting.

This is a great free museum. You can easily spend several hours here if you like to read. It gives you a great history of the area. This is not a museum for young children.
