My friends and I absolutely love this spot. We used to attend trivia at Lovin' Oven across the street and end our night here just hanging out. It's a great spot to just sit, talk, play music, etc. It also is right next to the train tracks and has speakers that connect to the frequency so you can hear conductors and such. There's also a little book exchange box right next to it. Overall, it's a nice spot that is well-kept and relatively peaceful.

What a treat! We went one day for about 5 hours and saw 8 trains...then the next morning for about 1.5 hours for a couple more!!! Train Viewing Platform could not have been better. A couple of picnic tables so take your lunch. Plenty of eateries across the street for take out then come back to platform. Literally they were steps away. Also, benches to sit on if you like, or take sports or beach chairs, plenty of room for those. Parking super easy right there. Meet some wonderful people who like train watching.

Didn't realize this could be rated. Such a quaint covered place in a small town. Can sit, relax, watch the trains go by, watch traffic and eat in a few places along this route. Less than a 1/2 mile off I-75. Take a break and time to smell the roses, one gem in life you will not regret if you stop.

The platform is only a few feet from the tracks and since the train does not slow as it travels by, it is extremely loud. So if you stop by with young children you may want to cover their ears. The building is new and nice. You can have a meal at one of the two picnic tables or just sit back and enjoy the sights. The town itself has a nice aura about it. It is located just a few miles from Interstate 75 and offers great scenery for background in pictures should you decide to stop off and visit.

Nearby is Horsetown which sells all kinds of western clothing and boots along with equestrian supplies up and including saddles. You also have Tanger Outlet Mall and Noah’s Ark animal rehabilitation center. So if in fact you are looking to take a short break from traveling Interstate 75, Locust Grove is worth a stop!

We were to early for the Niahs Ark so we decided to see what it is all about that platform. If you want to watch trains (what actually are coming very frequent) and just relax a little this is a good spot to do so.

This train watching platform is a safe place to see trains moving between Atlanta and Macon. It is covered so you can watch while it is raining (as I did). For photographers, it is on the west side to the tracks. That means it is properly lit in the afternoon. But if just want to watch, anytime will do. The only reason I did not rate it 5 stars is because there is no bathroom on-site. You have to go elsewhere. Maybe adding a couple of porta-potties?

The place to go and sit where you can be right next to the trains. They come through Locust Grove on a regular schedule. Visit the Farmer's Market on Saturday's during the summer season.

This is the perfect spot to just sit and watch the trains come by. It is "in-town" so you can walk to some of the nearby shops and food outlet. Overall a fun little free getaway.

We love visiting all the small towns we've come across in Georgia. Locust Grove is one of those. I'd never heard of a train viewing platform and wasn't sure what to expect. This is a small covered platform between the street and the fence that runs along the train tracks. There are picnic tables and lots of places to sit while waiting for the trains. We were there about 3 mins when we heard what sounded like a radio transmission from above us. It was the train's conductor having a conversation we could overhear coming through a speaker on the ceiling. I don't understand "train speak" but it was cool that we could hear it. Within a minute or two we heard the train's whistle/horn in the distance and then it came around the bend down the tracks. The train is very close to the platform and therefore very loud, so small children may be bothered by it. We saw 2 trains and we were there about 20 mins, so I guess they're pretty active tracks. Worth checking out.

I watched them build this attraction. It is literally just a wooden train stop with nothing else to do. Only trains that come down are freight trains randomly during the day.
