- fbloiseLondon, United Kingdom2 contributionsexcellent camping place for the whole familyVery beautiful landscapes, the Llamas are very friendly. The farm has two beautiful and friendly dogs, kids loved to play with them. There are walking trails and a pond at the back. The cabin we booked (red Gypsy caravan) was cosy and well prepared. We certainly loved the stay. In general is a very quiet area far away from city routines. Worth a visit for small families.Visited April 2023Traveled with familyWritten April 12, 2023

- Sarah HNorthampton, United Kingdom6 contributionsLlama TrekWhat a wonderful experience! Very chilled relaxing walk , leading these wonderful gentle , inquisitive funny creatures. We had a group outing for our fitness club and wanted something active but different and this 100% fitted the bill. It was drizzling weather but it didn’t dampen our experience. An informative talk was given telling us a bit about Llamas etc and then we were taken to the barn to be shown how to lead them etc , I cannot recommend this enough , beautiful countryside too , perfect day out , if sunny there is plenty of space to picnic after your trek too in picturesque surroundings. 10/10Visited July 2023Traveled with friendsWritten July 22, 2023
- wendytinworth2 contributionsTrekking with grandchildrenWe took our grand-daughters (11 & 7) to Catanger as a surprise during their summer holidays. It was a wonderful experience, thoroughly enjoyed by us all. The llamas were beautiful creatures, so calm, appealing and well behaved. At the start of the visit we were given a talk about the animals, which was very interesting. The arrangements and facilities at the site were excellent. We would thoroughly recommend.Visited August 2023Traveled with familyWritten September 7, 2023
- ladylidders102 contributionsLovely llamas!Absoutely fantastic day - highly recommended. Treked for a couple of hours with a llama each in the hot sunshine - they are lovely, gentle creatures. We had smiles on our faces all morning and for the rest of the day too! Our guide Abbie was friendly and knowledgeable. We will be back for another trek!Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten September 8, 2023
- rpnewman20231 contributionTrek-riffic!Absolutely fabulous day out. Booked onto the half day trek at very short notice (less than a weeks notice) - and the team did everything they could to accommodate us and fit us in. The pace of the trek wasn't too taxing, though be warned that the ground can be quite rough so sensible shoes are recommended. We got to walk the Llamas through some stunning scenary - which they all tried to eat!! The Llamas in our group were Barnaby, Quinn and Waffle (who is a quarter Alpaca) and they were really friendly and gorgeous. Our guide was Sarah who was very chatty, welcoming and had an unbelievable passion for her job. We met a few of the other Llamas at the fences too! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!Visited September 2023Written September 11, 2023
- Aoife HLondon, United Kingdom2 contributionsFabulous morning of llama-related fun!We had an amazing morning at Catanger Llamas. Sarah, our guide, was incredibly passionate and knowledgable, and took time to answer all our questions. The llamas are gorgeous and so well-behaved (we had Quinn, Gino, Emoji, Pogo, Indigo and Barnaby!) The trek through the farm was beautiful (although wear solid shoes!), and we loved getting to meet the babies and the dogs at the end. Highly recommend!Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 23, 2023
- Kat FNorthampton, United Kingdom1 contributionKids loved it (and adults too!)I have visited Catanger three times now, once as part of a hen weekend, and twice with my 8yo son and his friend. All visits have been immensely enjoyable. Sarah is so knowledgeable and an excellent host. The trekking was such good fun and my son absolutely fell in love with his llama (so much so we had to trek with him again the next time). It is such a beautiful location and the walk around the farm was the perfect pace. It is clear that the animals are very well carrd for. Communication in advance of arriving was very clear and Sarah went out of her way to provide extra information to help us. Would definitely recommend Catanger as unique experience.Visited September 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 25, 2023
- Ian BNorthampton, United Kingdom96 contributionsIt's like walking with family and old friends. Highly recommend. This is our 5th (we think) visit to the farm and Llama Trekking. We booked by sending an email and got a speedy reply from Sarah with some dates. We opted for a half day trek with Chrostmas theme. We requested that we were able to walk with 2 specific Llamas that we have had before (I paid to trek and we had 3 Llamas between the 3 of us, I'm not great with animals). After the introduction and safety talk we were off. The walk was extremely muddy and in places challenging, which really added to the adventure. Sarah had judged the group well and panned the route that would best suit us all. After a fun walk in the beautiful fields and countryside we ended up back on the farm where we met the other Llamas and baby Llamas. We got to wash off our boots a bit and then went into the visitors centre for warm mulled wine and mince pies. It was, as always, a lot of fun and is more like a festive walk with friends and family than a paid experience. I cannot reccomend Catanger Llamas enough for anyone who loves animals and a nice walk with lovely people. 5 star doesn't seem enough!Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 18, 2023

I smiled all weekend, It’s Wednesday and we’re still talking about it. It was like therapy with fur. This is the fourth time my family have been llama trekking at Catanga llama farm. It’s a lovely way to spend time with your family and friends. The trek is interesting and informative, giving you the opportunity to learn about and interact with the llamas. Sarah who takes you on the trek is friendly, engaging and makes you feel very welcome. I’d highly recommend this experience.

My wife always wanted to llama trek so it was a 50th birthday treat. I was reticent and when it was absolutely persisting down when we arrived I was even less enthusiastic. Enter stage left Sarah, our llama leader for the day. A tour de force of enthusiasm, and a love for llamas and her job exuded from every pore.
By the time we started the trek the rain had stopped, the sun came out and we had a wonderful 2 hours travelling the countryside. Afterwards we were taken to see the new babies that had just been born and take photographs before we were led to a picnic area to have a sandwich and a drink. This grumpy old git fully enjoyed it as did my wife. The llamas make the day but Sarah makes it even more special

We had the most wonderful day out at Catanger Llamas! The trek itself was wonderful even in some rather heavy rain at times, with the llamas behaving beautifully. They're incredible animals and it was great fun to walk along with them, asking lots of questions! Sarah was fantastic - very knowledgeable and a great host. After the trek they took us down to meet the mothers and babies, where we were lucky enough to actually witness one of the llamas giving birth! Watching a newborn wobble its way to standing just a few minutes later was a wonderful experience that I'll never forget.
As an extra treat we stayed in the Shepherds Hut for a night too. The facilities were just what was needed for a relaxing evening BBQing dinner and then relaxing round the fire with the occasional visit from some gentle friendly dogs. Very close to the visitors centre and car park so we didn't have to carry the coolbox/ overnight bag far. Only wish we'd stayed for longer!

I bought a llama trek ticket for my husband and the two of us headed off to Weedon Lois near Towcester in Northants and met the charming Sarah Brown and informative farm owner Mary who introduced a group of us (about 8 people) to our llamas. We learnt a lot and had great fun getting to know our respective animals - they all have different personalities. The walk flew by and we left grinning from ear to ear. Highly recommend to anyone - kids need to be 7 years + and you need to be able to walk across farmland at a reasonably brisk pace for 2 hours but ask Sarah if you have particular needs. She is super-helpful and friendly.

Nice trek through the countryside accompanied by a (relatively) well behaved Llama.
Sarah the guide was super knowledgeable about all things Llama and is clearly incredibly passionate about what she does!
Not sure if I'd do it again as it is a bit on the pricier side of things and I think the novelty of being able to pet a llama played a big part in it. But as a new experience myself and partner both thoroughly enjoyed it.

The trek was gifted to my wife as a birthday gift voucher. Once the C19 restrictions were over we booked a trek for my wife. Sarah is very well organised, her introduction to the llamas was very informative, and the llamas are lovely well looked animals. Totally recommend this to anyone.

We spent an amazing day at the farm, getting to know llamas and taking them for a walk. It was my first llama trekking experience and I absolutely loved it.
Catanger llamas are very friendly and well trained, it's such a pleasure walking with them through the woods, enjoying beautiful nature and fresh air. I had a walk with Emoji and he definitely did everything to keep a smile on my face :)
Sarah is a perfect guide, knowlegable and full of interesting stories.
Farm dogs are very friendly too, especially little Lenny.
Thank you, Catanger Llamas, we'll definitely be back.

We loved every minute of the trek. It was so informative, friendly and the llamas were cheeky and gorgeous. We sat in a field with the llamas after the walk through countryside and woods just chilling with them and finding out about them all. It was a beautiful day and we will be going again.

Given the current circumstances this is just the perfect activity to do. A walk in beautiful countryside with some gentle and friendly Llamas. We took a chance on this after receiving a Experience voucher and wanted to do something a bit more random, this was a great decision. The Mighty Quinn was a great trekking companion and both the wife and I really enjoyed it. Sarah made the whole experience really enjoyable and relaxing and we would recommend to anyone. Oh and there is also an alpaca before the photo confuse anyone.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, we are unfortunatley not on a bus route. Our nearest train station is Banbury and then you would need to get a taxi, we are about 25 minutes away from Banbury. I hope that helps

Half-day trek for 2 people with 2 llamas is £95. Extra people are £50 each. You may find that two llamas are sufficient if your children are quite young. You buy a voucher and then phone or email to arrange which day you want. Have a look at their website for more details.

How much is a visit and do I need to book, thinking of Saturday 11th July x
Catanger Llamas
Northamptonshire, UK4 contributions
Good evening and thank you for your question.
The price depends on how many people and which trek you would like to do. We do an on farm trek and a half day experience, both start and end the same! We start off in our visitors centre with half an hour of llama information and instruction on handling before meeting your llamas and heading out on your trek, The half day experience takes us across country, through arable, pasture and woodland. The trek covers approx. 3.5 miles taking around 2 hours. The on farm trek is a one hour trek taking us through specially mown rides in our 20 acre native woodland at Catanger Farm. Once we return to the farm we will take you to see the mothers and their babies and you are more than welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy at the farm after your trek. Weather permitting, we have picnic benches over looking the llama paddocks or you can eat inside the visitors centre. Our visitors centre houses our small ‘Llamarabilia’ gift shop area of goods that we make out of our very own llama fibre and some South American goodies too!
To give you a rough idea on price:
for two people with two llamas doing the on farm trek is 65.00
for two people with two llamas doing the half day trek is 95.00
Unfortunately we are fully booked this Saturday 11th July but do have availability the following weekend of the 18/19th. If this is not suitable for you then please let me know some alternative dates that you are free and I can check the availability for you as you do need to book in advance.
Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
