Larry Callies is an amazing man. We are so grateful for the wealth of information he shared with us. This museum is something to see. I love the story behind how he got the museum started and so grateful he followed his heart. Larry is so proud of his heritage and the legacy of his fore-fathers. When in Rosenberg, you must stop and visit Larry. He is so warm, friendly and genuine.

If you like Texas history, you need to visit this tiny museum near downtown Rosenberg. Texas Cowboy Larry Callies is the owner and is pleased to show you around to explain the historical significance of each object. Although his voice is very hoarse, just have patience as he joyfully shows you around. There are only 2 rooms but each are packed with one of a kind artifacts in a one of a kind museum. Cost is about $10 for adults, $5 for seniors but are larger donation is always appreciated to help Larry maintain the rent. People are coming from around the world to view the history of Black Cowboys and their contribution to making Texas ... Texas!

Larry Callies has spent countless hours encouraging the public to visit this museum which chronicles the history of the black cowboy. His own personal experiences are included in the stories told during the museum tour. Your age, color or heritage do not matter. Just enjoy the stories and listen to his first hand account of what it was like to be a black cowboy who wanted to compete in the Texas rodeo circuit.
