This place is definitely great for ship and boat enthusiasts who also enjoy a little bit of history. The Star of India admission gets you access to several other boats and a submarine docked in the same area. There is a lot of history to read about and explore and it’s a cool reprieve from the humid and hot afternoon. Generally the ship was clean and allowed an easy flow as you moved from one area to another. The submarine was also kind of cool although it was a tight space - as expected. Overall a nice way to spend an hour or two.

Its an old sail boat that set out to say the seas in look for herbs and spices and everything nice. You get to tour the inside of it (No Sailing) and go through almost every inch of it. My girl got sea sick on the bottom floor because she could really feel the rocking of the boat, it didn't bother me. Its a cool casual adventure walking along the bay front with many other things to look at near by.

We just happened to come across the star of India in the evening, and we watched the sunset from the ship before exploring it and the partnered submarine. It made for a beautiful and interesting night!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit despite the difficult ladder type stairs which can be daunting for people a little unsteady on their feet. That aside, there is so much to see and with great photo opportunities from the main deck and a ticket which gives access to other ships s well as the Maritime Museum all within walking distance.A big Bonus for us though, was to watch Actors working with young school children and teaching them both history and practical team work. All seemed to be enjoying it and us oldies watching were also entertained. We understand the kids were able to have sleep overs to experience life aboard in olden days.A really worthwhile use of a historic monument.

The Star of India is quite the Lady. She worked hard long before it was fashionable for ladies to work. She made 22 around he world trips transporting immigrants as part of the British Navy. Constructed on the Isle of Man. she was the naval workhorse hauling many loads of jute from India when the cotton trade with the United States was impaired by the Civil War. She also transported millions of cans of salmon from the icy Arctic waters to United States grocery shelves when she became part of the fishing industry. She is now part of a multi ship museum in the San Diego Harbor Maritime Museum. Honor her with your visit. And find out a different world of the seas.

Great spot on the harbor. You can step aboard the Star Of India and wonder her main decks and go below and see how passengers traveled in the day of sail. You can also step aboard the "Surprise" the ship seen in the movie "Master And Commander" This is a must see in San Diego. Right dow2n the embarcadero is the aircraft carrier "Midway" open as a museum.

The star was good as were the other sail ships, there's 5 or 6 vessels to go through and explore and there's even a Russian sub for which I have one word of advise ... Duck!

It is a beautifully majestic ship, the Indian star is an old ship that was built in 1863 which makes it one of the oldest still floating ships.
Note: the same ticket grants you access to multiple ships and submarines.

Beautifully maintained historic ship. We paid for access to the group of ships/submarines at the same location. Worth the price
