- northernkPhoenix, Arizona12,659 contributionsVery nice overall experience and parkOk so to begin, I'm a LA Dodger fan and attending a game in San Diego I honestly wasn't sure what to expect. But, and ignoring the fact that the Dodgers won coming from behind, it was a very exciting game. And I know it's a big rivalry but i think fans of both teams can say what we really want is for baseball to thrive and for it to go back to being america's game and with these kinds of games and the excitement when teams like the Padres and Dodgers play, i think that is good for baseball and all baseball fans. This is a lovely park, with good sidelines and concessions, though walking through the areas behind the outfield i wasn't to be honest sure about all the people i saw paying no attention to the game diverted by all the other activities on offer but i will say it was very nice and the park is nice and i loved walking in over the bridge from the hilton parking lot across the street a wonderful pedestrian bridge. Once through security i thought it was a nice touch to walk up the stairs next to a waterfall of running water from this entrance. So yes it's a well maintained nice park.Visited May 2023Written May 18, 2023
- RandallWest Des Moines, Iowa43 contributionsPadres be Red SoxsThis is the 3rd ballpark I have been to see a game. Petco park was a lot nicer than the other two I have been to. Food was amazing. Seats were good (I wish I got one in the shade because I got burnt, my own fault) the grounds were beautiful and the Padres stomped the Ref Sox’s 7-0. Great game and a great day.Visited May 2023Traveled soloWritten May 22, 2023

We sat up in the right field area, mistake as it was a 3:40pm game time and we faced the sun most of the game. We stayed at the Omni so we were able to take the bridge across to the stadium. There was a long wait due to the number of fans staying at the hotel and the game being sold out. My only issue was with security, we have been to many venues and they will allow fans in with a clear bag. My wife had her clear bag, maybe a smaller purse size and the lady said it is not allowed but we saw many bags that were not clear or larger that were in the stadium. There needs to be more consistency with their security. Overall we had a great experience even thought the Halos lost the game.Visited July 2023Written July 9, 2023

Being from the UK, we didn’t really understand all the ins and outs of the game, but that didn’t stop us having a fantastic time in a great atmospheric ball park. Great views, great weather and very friendly people. We even brought a Padres uniform to take home. Plus note: Padres won the game.Visited August 2022Traveled with familyWritten July 9, 2023
- Stephen TGateshead, United Kingdom59 contributionsA great American experienceIt was my birthday and I was on holiday from the U.K. with my wife. I didn’t have a clue about the rules for baseball but I wanted to do something typically American. Petco Park is digital only. You need some method of contactless payment. We bought tickets from Ticketmaster but the official MLB ground app does the same thing. You are subjected to a security inspection and you can only carry a small bag. Basically a handbag or small shoulder bag. Check the dimensions on the website. The game takes two to three hours. We arrived early and had lunch as the park opens about an hour before the game. Even if you know nothing about the game you can enjoy the experience. The Padres in 2023 have a bunch of expensive players and a high payroll. Stars of the baseball world - although somewhat underperforming. Our game was against the Atlanta Braves. Games are played as a series. In our case it was the third day. The park is easy to get to. It’s at the southern end of downtown. It is next to a tram (trolley) line and the Gaslamp District. When I got home I did actually learn the rules and it made more sense. There is a shop for merch if you want souvenir. We enjoyed the whole thing and I think if I lived in San Diego I would go again.Visited April 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten July 21, 2023
- ChickenParm41769 contributionsOne of the Top MLB Parks Not to be MIssed! This park was amazing and beautiful. This is Current MLB Park # 29 out of 30 for me. It's right up there with my favorite, PNC, in Pittsburgh. Fan friendly. Very clean and modern. Great sightlines. Friendly employees. Friendly fans. They printed my e-ticket without any issue. Pregame concert on Saturday, pregame kid's activities on Sunday. Guest Relations gave us "first-game" buttons and Topps cards. We took the trolley to and from the game, from Old Town, which was fast, safe, clean and cheap. Cons: Beer was expensive. They don't take cash. Parking is non-existent or mad expensive. No printed programs. No printed schedules.Visited July 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten July 22, 2023
- Hank956Brownsville, Texas1,104 contributionsBallpark funFirst impressions Nice very nice. Exciting to see a Padre’s game. Parking You can park anywhere in the neighborhood around the ballpark but it will better to get parking at the Hilton Bayfront online. Easy access and take the bridge across to the field. Ambiance WONDERFUL, great and easy entries and exits to the different levels of the park. Seating is easy to get. Plan ahead, day of tickets get more expensive. A week out or more would be better. Lots of different areas to sit. Standing room only to green park at the back. Menu Lots of different options to eat, from your basic hot dog and pretzels to BBQ, Mexican, sushi and other fare. Food Take your pick, check out all the levels to see what you are getting. You can also have your food delivered. Price Great prices for venue Final Thoughts A must visit, catch a game, enjoy the game.Visited July 2023Traveled with familyWritten July 28, 2023

We found it easy to get in and out of it both before and after the game. The seats are good and not too cramped. There’s a good selection of food and drink. The location of the stadium is in the heart of downtown. We stayed so we didn’t have to park…I have no idea where people would park however as street parking is limited and there isn’t an actual lot. Food expensive as you would gather and the stadium didn’t flow, it was broken up and we had to go up and down ramps to remain on our level. Regardless, we knocked another stadium off our list.

Beautiful baseball stadium! I went with a group of friends from work to watch the Padres vs. Diamondbacks game back in mid July. Padres won 4-3! We bought nose bleed seats, but never sat there. We walked around the whole Park to get views from different angles - all views were great! We actually stood for most of the game. Before the game began, we visited the Padres Hall of Fame and took in some of the other statues and venues there. Food and drink abound here. Watched the fireworks show after the game was over - Star Wars themed. Very nice time!

Sooo much fun, you play 9 holes of golf from various parts of the stadium trying to hit the various greens in the stadium. We were able to obtain tickets at the last minute through StubHub and really enjoyed it. My husband is the golfer, I am not but had a great time regardless! The holes have various themes he sponsors …we would definitely jump at the chance to play again and highly recommend.

I was at concert of Red Hot Chili Peppers and despite of great artists sound was so so bad. The sound is just awful, it rattles, rumbles, absolutely no mid and high frequencies can be heard. The concert was completely ruined. And it was observed in all parts of the stadium. Terrible sound! I do not understand how you can arrange a concert in such conditions. This is a mockery of the audience and musicians.
We had to walk away in the middle of the show even though they are my favorite band.

I have lived in the city of San Diego for 3 years but this was my first experience with Petco Park. My Y gave out free tickets at 10am for that Wednesday game at 1pm so it was a spontaneous decision to go. The seats were way high and I worried it might be hot sun, but it was in the shade. A couple of years ago I was at a rooftop bar looking down at the field for an evening game. I'm not really a baseball fan but couldn't help pick up on some of the excitement of the fans. Didn't get anything to eat or drink as of course it was way expensive and bags are checked coming in. Thought the PA and music was really loud. The Padres were scoreless and behind by 6 runs already halfway thru the game so I did leave to walk to a bar and have happy hour beer and bites as the game was on TV there. The ballpark has a great location right in the heart of San Diego and easy to get to by public trans and walking. Could see the flights coming into the city airport too. If you like baseball this might be a ballfield to check out.

Thia is a beautiful ballpark. We watched a baseball game. We purchased parking at the Petco parkade and it was an easy walk to the stadium. We went to the store. They didnt have very many 2xl for my husband so he couldn't buy the shirt he wanted. We enjoyed the sites around the stadium. The food places were packed. The lemonade stand would only take a credit card. Their strawberry lemonade was refreshing. We had a meal at Hodads. That was an amazing burger but they need to figure out a better way to deliver food. You had to wait in line again to get your food. We also had a bottomless soda with free refills. Before we left we got a twist icecream which was so good. The game was nice. It is a little cooler at the stadium since it's near water so I'm glad I brought a jacket. The screen was huge and easy to see what they were filming. The seats were a little tight because of the angle. Great experience.

An absolutely wonderful, safe, family friendly, and fun ballpark. Not even close to a bad seat anywhere in the stadium.
Check out the Padres home page for all stadium information. Lots of parking options nearby between $20-$50 a car. The trolley is also a great way to get to and from the games as is The Coaster from the North County.
Plenty of really good food options but expect to pay plenty. A simple ballpark dog is $8.50.
Fans are friendly and are not idiots like most LA area fans. Staff extremely polite and knowledgeable. Can quickly and safely get fans in and out of the stadium.
The transients and homeless are normally booted out of the area during games days.

Has anyone been to a night time concert in November? Wondering about being cold at Elton John concert November 9.
Which is a better seat? Toyota Terrace VIP (202) or Premier Club (G or L)?
I’m curious also which all seats are the movie theatre style really cushioned seats? I know jerome’s home plate and Cut water Coronado, any others?

Going to Petco park, but am on crutches. Is there parking lot close to Petco park that offers free shuttle to the stadium? Or would it be best to take a taxi to the park. Do NOT have a handicapped parking sticker for our car. Am limited to amount of walking I can do on crutches. Advise??? Thanks!

I highly recommend taking taxi or Uber/ Lift vs parking (there is limited parking as the stadium is a down town locale). They can bring you right up to stadium entrances. There are plenty of elevators and escalators serving all levels of the stadium. Also the stadium service staff are very helpful and plentiful! Have fun!

3rd base. Left field is okay also but 3B line gets you the entire field closer up. My preference anyway.

spectacular venue . Seldom over crowded. All seats are good.
Many people walk around the park and explore through out the game as well.
You will enjoy your time at this laid back family friendly venue.
