My (new!) husband and I visited the Birdsong Pleasure Garden on our honeymoon. What a wonderful place! Although we are both garden lovers (we even got married in a botanical garden), neither of us were blessed with green thumbs which is why we are so grateful for folks like Lesley and Tom.
Throughout our two hour private tour, Lesley was extremely interesting, informational, and inspirational. I particularly loved learning about the bees and native plants, ways to thwart off pests, smelling the herbs (lemon balm <3), and taking hundreds of pictures of day lilies, hydrangeas, and gladiolus. It was remarkable seeing how the garden has evolved over the past 30 years and makes me hopeful that maybe even *I* can start a garden one day.

Thank you for letting us experience a bit of serenity in your garden on our honeymoon! We hope it rains soon.

Leslie & Tom were a pleasure to meet. They share their home gardens and present a 2 hour walking tour. They share a wealth of knowledge about organic gardening and forestry. Leslie has quite a sense of humor and made the tour great fun and interesting.

Well, shucks, Gary...thank you for the great compliments. I'm glad that Janet was able to make the appointment for you all to come. You all were a lot of fun, too. Hope your greenhouse gave you and Paula the opportunity to have lots of produce this summer. Maybe even some brussels sprouts this fall!! Hi to Skip, too! Take care, Lesley and Tom (P.S. - Just found your comment today.)

We cannot rave enough about these gardens and their charming stewards. Leslie and Tom have spent 30 years developing their 3 acres into the beautiful, bountiful, lush paradise it is today. It is available to visit by appointment only as well as for events. All fees collected are donated to VA Land Conservancy. Absolutely worth the visit.

Thank you ??? very much for these wonderful compliments. We are so happy that you came and enjoyed the gardens. We hope that you come again, sometime...the gardens are always changing with flowers blooming in a myriad of colors inviting the multitude of fauna that live here or pass through seasonally.

Tom and Leslie, it was so good to see you again and catch up. So much has grown and changed since those early days when we had Master Gardener meetings there! Your garden really makes me wish I could do the same in CA. I found the reference that pointed me to you: In the May / June issue of The American Gardener (from the American Horticultural Society), there was an announcement about the Garden Lovers' Day at Birdsong, sponsored by the Hill and Valley Garden Club in Luray. So I checked out the link and found you. So glad I did.

My husband & I enjoyed a lovely tour today with Leslie, the owner of the property. We met her husband Tom who was busy working the gardens. She could not have been any sweeter and was kind enough to answer our many questions. They are both extremely knowledgeable and we learned a great deal about, trees, flowers, insects and much more. The walk is leisurely with no climbing involved. We even left with some fruit of a ginkgo biloba tree to plant in an attempt to grow our own. Many Thanks Leslie & Tom

There were so many gardens here to see on a beautiful summer day and our hosts were super accommodating and friendly. The specimen trees and perennial garden areas were our favorite areas-so many unique trees to visit and learn about and lots of flowers in late summer. A great example of a garden created on a tight budget and many years in the making.
