Self serve electronic serving system was efficient and a great way to share w a friend to taste wine. Small pour and small price per pour. The people
Working there helped us by steering us toward the types of wines they thought we would enjoy based on what we liked. Helpful .. we sent 6 bottles we liked home . Grazie. Charming town as well. We so enjoyed the fort and the views .

What a wonderful surprise to find Erney at Enoteca di Piazza wine room. We love Brunello wines but didn't know too much about them. Erney gave us a wonderful introduction and then had us sample several. We wanted to ship home a mixed case to the U.S. He made it simple and affordable. And with no sales pressure at all. He made it a fun experience and one of our Montalcino highlights, after the wedding we attended. What a nice guy and lovely wine room and restaurant. We bought one of the wines we had enjoyed at dinner the night before. The wines arrived in perfect condition and quite well packed for shipping. We are now enjoying our special wines with our friends. We have already contacted Erney for another shipment for the holidays. Highly recommend Enoteca di Piazza in Montalcino. We managed to get a lovely table in a great spot at a busy time.
Lovely service. Picked us an absolutely delicious wine. Probably our favourite of the whole holiday.
We then had mushroom soup and onion soup. Followed by chicken cacciatore and wild boar stew. Everything was amazing. Very reasonably priced. 100% recommend.

This was perhaps the most fun 90 minutes we spent in all of Italy. We ate at their excellent new restaurant just outside the wine tasting room (be sure you get the RIGHT place - the wine tasting room is the one that has the CARD system where you can try over a hundred Brunello's and Super Tuscans.) Isabella and Carlos from Cretaiola sent us, so we got a few free flights with our lunch (not to mention the fact they actually comped us lunch for 4 and most of the tasting thanks to our 4 case order) and great treatment. Samuela helped us and explained the history of Brunello and wine making in this region of Italy to us and helped us navigate the maze of producers and vintages they have here. The card system is genius - it allows you to try even the super expensive wines for just a few euros. We actually got to the point where we couldn't taste any more (which says a lot) so with Samuela's help, we pieced together an order of several cases (free shipping on most, no customs).

Brunello is SO expensive in the states and most of the top ones don't even get exported. If you buy from here, not only are the prices maybe a forth of what you'd pay in the US, you will find wines you could only dream of finding. I can't wait to get home and share these with our friends. money well spent!! The premier wine tasting spot in Tuscany for a WIDE sampling (rather than just one producer).

We drove straight in from Rome FCO and rented a car to Montalcino. We only had two days so we drove straight here to taste thru as many Brunellos as we could before our next day of winery tastings. It ended up being the perfect strategy for us. This enoteca has most of their inventory online so I was able to research the wines with our local wine shop to see what was a good investment for us and make a shopping list. I cannot believe I got them all except for the Valdicava (which you can get at the Fortress). I even got the last bottle of the Wine Spector "Wine of the Year" the Casanova di Neri 2001 Tenuta Nuova. Oh joy to throw that one in the case for shipping home! By the way, shipping was much cheaper than anyone else has quoted. The guys there are super helpful and patient while you use the drink card system which ROCKS when you are new to a wine region. We will most definitely be calling them to make future orders!!

We enjoyed our tasting experience. Staff was very welcoming and kind. They described with passion and clarity how Montalcino wines are made. Then, we tasted different wines of different years and with different aging processes.
It is worth a visit!

My wife and I spent a week (October of 2105) in Montalcino, a lovely Tuscan walled city. It seems as though every other store in the city is an Enoteca -- not surprising, given that Montalcino is at the very heart of the Brunello wine country. Quite by chance we stumbled upon Enoteca di Piazza, just down the street from Piazza del Popolo.

This lovely little wine store has the most amazing array of high tech wine dispensing equipment that I have ever seen -- three or four machines that hold 25 or more bottles of wine each for sampling by the glass.

We were greeted by Paolo, a very pleasant young man who spoke excellent English and whose knowledge of local wines is apparently bottomless. We explained to Paolo that we wanted to sample the Brunello's and allowed him to guide us through the process. Paolo was an excellent teacher and in half an hour we sampled five or six different wines and had a very helpful education about just what makes a Brunello special.

The beauty of this set up is that my wife and I shared one glass and asked for a "tasting pour" of each wine -- just enough for two nice sips apiece and perfect for getting the feel of each wine without getting "squiffy" in the process. Moreover, the cost of a tasting pour of even the most expensive wines was only a few Euro's, so the total cost of the session was quite modest. How in the world would we otherwise have been able to sample so many world class wines in a single session? Awesome! We also left with two bottles of wine that we knew we would enjoy, having sampled them courtesy of Paolo.

We enjoyed our time with Paolo so much that we returned a couple of days later and asked him to walk us through the world of Rosso di Montalcino -- essentially a younger and less expensive version of Brunello wine also produced in the Montalcino area. Again, we had a wonderful time and learned volumes about these interesting wines. And again, we walked out with a bottle or two of one of the wines we had sampled. No surprises when we uncorked our purchase later in the day!

If you are a wine aficionado (or, even if you are not, but would like to learn more about the wonderful wines produced in the Montalcino area), you owe it to yourself to drop in to the Enoteca di Piazza and do some exploring among its vast resources. Ask for Paolo and you will be amazed at how much you will learn!

What a great way to sample wines....buy a card, get a glass, pick a wine that you want to sample, stick your card in the slot where the cost of each sample is shown and out comes a premeasured sample. It's like a self guided wine tour, although the staff was very knowledgeable with suggestions and questions.

I am not much of a wine connoisseur but found the experience to be relaxed and fun. We tried several different Brunello wines with the help of Nicolas and appreciated the knowledge he had and his ability to interact with us as his English was excellent. Definitely check it out!

We, too, were fortunate to have Samuele work with us. He must have given us 10-15 samples of different wines. We found a couple we loved and bought 6 bottles. It was a wonderful and fun wine experience and one of the highlights of our week in Tuscany. He gave a 10%. discount for their restaurant across the street. The meal was fabulous and we were surprised by the generous portions. We will always remember this experience.
