Absolutely one of the best spots in France! Tucked away off the west edge of the Forêts of Eu. This garden has the most plant varieties of any garden in Europe. If you are into plants this is a GEM of a permaculture jungle garden!!! Highly recommend.

I visited Charles’ garden together with a friend and two teenagers, we all loved it.
It was raining quite a lot, Charles was kind enough to let us borrow his two spare raincoats and still gave us a wonderful tour despite the weather.
The plant collection was very interesting and the garden is stunning and beautiful. I will definitely visit it agin.

After deciding to make a cartrip in France this was our first stop from Amsterdam. What we didnt know is that you have reserve in advance nevertheless the owner arived within 10 minutes after we called him we have made an appointment to take a tour at a more convinient time. The garden was waking up from its sleep mode some plants were still not fully developed because we were early in the season. Best time is july august. Bring shoes that may get dirty. Alot of amazing plants that you normaly not see anywhere together like this. We bought a baby giant rhododendron as a souvenir.

The tour is very fun to do. Charles has lots of knowledge and tells with enthusiasm about the plants. We were here last Thursday (June), and didn't know what we would find, but it was interesting to learn about Charles' garden.

I guess it is more fun when you like plants, but as most people do, you'll probably like it! It is something special, since there is not much like this in and around Normandy.

Plus, we bought some of his plants.

If you visit this exotic wonderland get ready for a big surprise! Charles has assembled a truly fantastic collection of semi-tropical and temperate plants, including many rarities and ones you have never seen before. It was the highlight of our tour through Normandy during which we visited 13 gardens in the fall of 2017. Must not be missed! Charles is an extremely knowledgable and friendly host. Highly recommended.

Charles' explanations are captivating, the experience is breathtaking even in November when leaves are falling and most flowers are no longer blossoming. My son of 11 was initially reluctant to go but went home thinking it was "super-cool", and is even going to suggest a school trip to his teacher. My 6 year old daughter was also enchanted, it was a fun family outing. We stayed in a hospitable B&B in Eu run by Charles' aunt and had a delicious family friendly meal in Octopussy in Mers-les-Bains, both also highly recommendable.

Charles has a magnificent garden located in a piece of forest filled with the most unique rarities of plants from all over the world. Exotic rarities that can survive the winters in Normandy usually originating in the high altitude regions of the subtropics give the garden an exotic look and many are unseen in garden centre, some even unrecorded by science!
A tour with Charles through his paradise will overwhelm you with information and plant-names if you show interest and some botanical knowledge, but also for the less botanically academic visitor the garden has a very nice mystique atmosphere!

This collection was one of a kind. If you are seeking something that the normal botanical garden wouldn't have, this is the place to visit. The tour is full of scents, big and small plants with a rich history that Charles will show and explain to you. The cost 50 euros, was for me the perfect price for this wonderfull experience. The tour was about 1,5 hour and if you have time around 30 minutes you can maybe visit his greenhouse to see what he is woking on. I can truely recommend this! 5 out of 5 from Denmark

Despite having a home in this part of France for over 15 years this is the first time I had heard of this garden and so did not at all know what to expect. If you like your gardens neatly kept with bountiful roses and borders then this is not that sort of garden, it is WILD. Built in the middle of forest/woodland close to Eu, Charles - who is fascinating and charming guide (plus he speaks English) - walked us through and pointed out things we would never even have noticed or remarked. He is passionate about the plants he has sourced from his travels all over the world and can tell you an enormous amount about their habitats, growth, flowers etc. In late April the "garden" is just beginning to wake up but there is a tremendous amount to see even so. We will go back in the summer to see the differences but now we can see the trees, bamboos, smaller flowers, shoots beginning to emerge ..... Was I impressed? Yes & No. Yes but the sheer scale and passion but you could miss so much with a knowledgable guide. Is it a jungle?? It certainly will be, that is for sure. At 10 euros for nearly 2 hours this is not bad value either (to an English person). It is worth it just to spend 2 hours in Charles' company.
You do need to book, just be warned, the garden is only opened when there are visits planned but he opened for just 2 of us when we went. No questions asked. (I even bought Ginger plant)
