Not really sure whether it is open or not. We went in as the gate was unlocked however there were no signs or detail available. Best part was the view over the town from the promenade.

Chateau de la Madeline from the 11-13 century is just one of the spots of the Vallée de Chevreuse. Only 25 km away from Paris, you feel hundreds of kms away! Many places to visit around. Nice restaurants. The RER B goes there. You can walk from St-Remy-les-Chevreuse Station to Chevreuse Village. Soon it will be possible to rent a bike. A lot of bike paths all around!

We went here after walking down the Chemin Jean Racine trail and eating lunch in Chevreuse. You have to be in good cardiovascularhealth to get up the stairs to the chateau, but the view from there was extraordinary and became my new facebook page backdrop. I also noticed a nice picnic area on the climb yup the stairs. The exhibits are fairly small, but walking down into the dungeon was cool. The gift shop has topographical hiking maps of the area, which can in handy over the next few days for planning walks.

We visited the Chäteau today while on a short driving tour of the area. There’s not much here but the property has been well restored and the views are wonderful.

A very well preserved fortress surrounded by forests of the valley Chevreuse, not to far from Paris.
After visit you can have a relaxing walk through the surrounding forest.

This old castle has been built between the 12th and the 15 th century AD. It has been nicely restored, giving visitors a great experience of a complete castle with walls and dungeon. It offers a great view over Chevreuse valley. The small museum is worth visiting, showing the various eolutions of the castle throughout middle age.
Castle entrance is free

A sunny day, not too hot and with some breeze, is necessary to enjoy the path of Jean Racine, the countryside and this castle. It is just old walls standing, and the enclosed area is not too big, so don't come expecting stupendous architecture. However, this is precisely its charm here: you will find families, some couples, people relaxing here, sitting on the grass in the courtyard of the castle, and you can have lovely views of the countryside. Chevreuse itself is a lovely village, easily accessible from Paris.
