Although the climb up the mountain is quite exhausting as is the walk up tower, it is definitely worth it. The place offers spectacular views all over the state of Hesse (if weather permits). No entrance fee required.

A spectacular view of the surrounding area

If you are visiting any of the towns in the Butzbach area, you really should look up the Hausbergturm. It is an observation tower on one of the high mountains west of town. There is a half mile or so walk, steady incline to the tower, through wonderful woods and with informational displays along the way. The view from the top is really spectacular, and the tower is substantial and steady, so you can just enjoy the sights and not worry about your safety.
