The Triberg wasserfalls are the highest in Germany. The walk to the beginning of the falls is through a beautiful park. They have a lot of squirls who love peanut. So take them with you. The photos are spectacular

This is a beautiful spot! Plan at least one hour, especially if you want to walk. Various walks are available, though I could not find a toilet near the car park.
There is a shelter with large maps and route information.
A little stream is nearby to cool your tired feet after a walk.
You need sunscreen and water. Some of the walks are not suitable for prams or people with walking difficulties.
The falls are illuminated on some nights.

We walked the whole surrounding paths and what we can say is that we were highly amazed and impressed by its beauty. This is a must to see (you need to be in good shape though)

Severely disappointed! Where to start?
Rude locals: We were there in November so not too busy, but i was still scolded rudely in German for parking on the street - i couldn't read the signs and it wasn't like there was a shortage of parking on the street. Maybe some help people! Not calling the police!
Overpriced everything: pay to walk to see the mediocre falls?! i have seen much better falls pretty much everywhere else in the world. Not nearly worth the price of admission. I also paid 1 Euro for the peanuts to feed the squirrels - not being told they are all hibernating. They wouldn't give me a refund! What kind of service is that?! Trinkets are way overpriced - even though i did buy a stein since we were there.
We looked around for any other reason to come to this town again and we can see no reason to go here. (Maybe for the pizza in the yellow bakeri a block or 2 down the road-yum!)
Local Black Forest Cake: Hard to find and just 'ok'.
Please don't go to this town- it is a tourist trap of the largest proportion, and they are not even nice about it!! This was my first town in Germany and i was so disappointed.

There are some walks in the vicinity and the fact that the falls are in a small gorge is nice, but not really worth the trip, we could have done something more special with the day probably.

Set in a lovely small gorge, the water shoots over several rocks down. Especially spectacular in Winter when frozen.
Good start for shorter and longer hikes up the valley with Moraines from the Glacier times and explanations how they floatet wood down the valley.
Further up there is even a spot where one can see all the way to the Alps.
There is also a restaurant just below. Nice local food.

This is worth a visit if you are in the area (and like waterfalls). I wouldn't make it the whole point of the visit to Mezenschwand, but it's a great addition to a some fantastic walking. There's a secure path to follow, and great views of the water.

There are sometimes light shows - never seen one of those, but if you are into that sort of thing, check the local website.
