We had enjoyed a visit to this homestead museum before and found the English-speaking tour to be quite excellent and interesting. We came back recently on Roald Amundsenâs 150th birthday, and found the house, monument, museum and exhibits still interesting, but with the English guided tour paused for the celebrations. It was a beautiful day so instead, we walked the paths around the property and looked at the interpretive signs, most were in Norwegian but it was still a beautiful day to be there and go for a walk.

In the house of famous Roald Amundsen you will find a lot of interesting things from his trips to the ice, trying to reach the North pole.Even a stuffed Icebear you will find here.

My wife and I caught a taxi from our hotel in Fredrikstad to visit the museum and arrived within the stated opening hours. The journey took 15 minutes by taxi. Their website stated the premises was open on a Saturday from 11:00 to 17:00. On arrival the Museum wasnât open and there were no signs of human activity. Had to return back to our hotel without seeing anything - spent NKR 705 on our taxi fare. Very disappointed. I recommend that you call before visiting to confirm that the museum will be open.
