Museu d'Art Contemporani d'Eivissa is the Contemporary Museum of the city and it is located in the old town, in a higher place. The museum is a contemporary building very well integrated in this part of the town. Inside, you can see some pictures and sculptures of local artists or artists, which come to live in the island. It is an ice museum, from where you can see beautiful views of the old town. The museum is small and only has a few big rooms, which could be visited.

Fantastic building with a great quantity of art created in the island. Helps you realise the art history of Ibiza, in the last century. Fantastic space and lovely exhibitions. Good work!!

We happened across this museum when walking into the old town. It happens to be free which is wonderful for making art accessible to everyone and to help show the collection that they have to offer. A good mixture of painting, sculpture, photography, video, and mixed media- very versatile. If you like contemporary art, it’s a small but lovely museum. It is built on top of some ruins of an old building and they have glass flooring so that you can see it as well as a case of artifacts that were found on the site. It’s an interesting mixture of old and new- celebrating Ibiza’s past and present. Well worth a visit!

My partner and I came across this gallery when in the old town and decided to pop in. We were followed everywhere and staff stood and stared at us in the creepiest way ever. One kept sneering down her nose at us. As contemporary art fans we understand that many MAJOR galleries are trying to break down the elitist air they have about them..think BALTIC in Newcastle upon Tyne, MOMA New York (which we have visited on a number of occasions) but this one is more than happy to make sure those who may not have the capacity to enjoy such works are felt as unwelcome as possible. They got it wrong this time round! Rude arrogance from academics running a gallery puts people off visiting and coming from an arts background in the UK, it saddens me to see staff at a gallery treating visitors in such a way. Get a grip and start behaving more appropriately if you are going to open up the magical world of the arts to all. Disgraceful people!

If you're a young couple under the age of 25 expect to be stereotyped and shadowed around the entire museum.
Not welcoming in the slightest, reception staff was rude and offered us no information or advise, however provided a glowing welcome to the next family who walked in.
Being closely followed and watched made the whole experience for us uneasy and awkward.
The art was, however, very unique and interesting.

Given the reviews on here, I was expecting this museum to be great! However, the temporary exhibition on the White Isle, was tepid, and the rest of the museum had little explanations of the individual pieces and working out any connection to the isle of Ibiza is probably going to take a long google!
That said, it is free and the staff are super helpful. Maybe two or three pieces in the collection were of interest. However, the building itself is great. The lowest floor also shows the walls of a Punic settlement discovered when laying the foundations of the museum.
There is a free tour (at 19.30 on the day I visited), which might provide a bit more context to the experience and make it a bit more worth while. I’d say you only need 30-45 minutes to see the whole exhibition, although if they change the special exhibition on the second floor to something more noteworthy, then it could extend to an hour, I think.
Overall, worth a half hour jaunt before lunch or dinner (note it has a long siesta, from 2-5/6pm depending on the time of year when I visited).

I did a reconnaissance visit when a lot of the gallery space was closed for an upcoming exhibition. Bizarre glass flooring at the bottom over Roman archaeological remains -- of graves I believe. Nothing stunning in the collection but some interesting abstraction on show. I went back for the exhibition opening on my birthday on June 8 and found the show to be dull in the extreme. Uninspiring porcelain arrangements shown in a half-lit gallery and no free booze or nibbles. What sort of preview is this? Great building though as others have said. Anyway enough of this chat, it's a great place to get out of the sun and away from the crowds.
Haste luego peeps!

What a fantastic hour or so! In a great location just up the main ramp into the walled old town. A free of charge contemporary art space, oozing with quality work. The floor in the lower level is glass exposing the old stone below it, combined with crisp clinical walls covered in some of the most fantastic contemporary art pieces I have seen in Europe. Well worth your time. I’d go out of my way to see this place and will return each year!

I loved this museum. It is beautifully located in the middle of the old town and wakes you up to the feeling of what Spain is really like, full of passion, politics and poetry. It would have been nice to have a coffee a chill, but we did visit in December when everything around was closed.
