Nella scorsa estate durante una giornata di visita al borgo di Grottammare, salendo il borgo e girando per le vie ho visto una piccola piazzetta, molto carina, Piazza Peretti, nella quale è presente un bel punto panoramico dal quale scattare belle foto sulla città, il teatro e ben 2 musei. Nella piazza è anche la Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista, che si fonde in modo armonioso all'architettura circostante, peccato che non ho potuto visitarla, per via dei preparativi in corso per un matrimonio.

La chiesa di San Giovanni Battista occupa una parte della piazzetta principale nel cuore del borgo. Nella chiesa è allestito il Museo Sistino con gli oggetti donati dal Pontefice Sisto V che a Grottammare nacque. In occasione della mia visita la chiesa era chiusa, un laconico cartello sulla porta avvertiva i visitatori che a causa dei furti subiti la chiesa veniva aperta solo durante la funzione religiosa della domenica mattina.

La sobria facciata della chiesa di San Giovanni è un'elegante quinta che chiude degnamente e con coerenza uno dei lati della scenografica e raccolta piazza Peretti, cuore del borgo antico di Grottammare che dalla loggia s'affaccia sulla costa.
Se si ha la fortuna di trovarlo aperto si può visitare il gradevole interno della chiesa, ma già l'incantevole quadro d'insieme della piazza ripaga ampiamente.

Chiesa ad aula unica costruita nell’Ottocento, con l’altare maggiore ad orientem e quattro altari laterali. Affrescata dal Pauri (che collaborò con il Seitz nella Cappella Tedesca della Basilica di Loreto), tra gli altri si trovano ritratti I Quattro Evangelisti, il Santo Patrono della città San Paterniano. È stata restaurata da qualche anno, e si presenta in buono stato. Ha una piccola sagrestia, un matroneo con organo a canne. Si trova su piazza Peretti, bellissima, al fianco del Teatro dell’Arancio e di una loggia - balcone che dà sul mare, vista stupenda. Dalla piazzetta si va verso la parte più antica e suggestiva dell’incasso alto di questa bella cittadina.

Chiesa dalle forme semplici ed essenziali che costituisce uno dei lati dell'incantevole Piazza Peretti nel Borgo Antico di Grottammare. La presenza di una chiesa dedicata a San Giovanni è documentata già alla fine del sec. XIV, ma le sue origini sono sicuramente più remote (sec. IX-X). L'edificio attuale è tuttavia recente, essendo stato costruito ex novo nel 1802 dopo la totale demolizione della chiesa originaria.

Bella chiesa posta nella piazza principale, purtroppo chiusa al pubblico durante il presepe vivente, ma comunque elemento essenziale del caratteristico paesaggio medievale di edifici incastonati tra loro

Semplice chiesa di sobria eleganza, dalle antiche origini ma completamente ricostruita nel 1802, che delimita insieme al Teatro dell'Arancio e ad altre belle case l'armoniosa Piazza Peretti, cuore del borgo antico di Grottammare.
L'interno a una sola navata consta di un'aula a pianta rettangolare abbastanza luminosa e decorata con un certo gusto.

Chiesa dalle forme semplici e senza troppi sfarzi sia nell'architettura esterna che negli affreschi interni, ma che si trova nell'incantevole Piazza Peretti in uno dei borghi più belli d'Italia ovvero il borgo antico di Grottammare alta.

Ho visitato la chiesa in occasione di un concerto di musica classica che si svolgeva proprio al suo interno.
La chiesa è un piccolo gioiello situato in posizione centrale nella piazza di uno dei più bei Borghi d’Italia.
La chiesa è curata in ogni minimo dettaglio dall’altare al soffitto interamente affrescato. Inoltre nelle pareti lungo le navate laterali ospita cimeli e quadri in onore di sisto V.
La chiesa è infatti luogo appartenente ai musei sistini del Piceno.
Assolutamente da visitare e da ammirare.

L’attuale chiesa di San Giovanni Battista venne edificata sul sito di una chiesa preesistente. Il nuovo edificio venne realizzato nel 1802.
