Lovely shop with local produce.
We bought some chilli oil, and piri dip. Also picked up some flower salt.
The owner passionately talked about his produce and spoke excellent English. Worth a look inside and contributing to his work.

So pleased we ventured into Estoi and visited this shop.
The owner is so nice and very passionate about his products. He is very talented and makes wooden items out of locally sourced wood.
We purchased some serving boards made out of the local carob tree wood. As they weren't ready, as they are made to order, the owner kindly delivered them to our villa on the evening at no extra cost.
The smell in the shop is amazing, as there are many different types of wood that are cut…olive, carob, etc
This shop is a must see, as there are many local products that you can buy to remind you of Portugal

Owner is very friendly and welcoming He is very knowledgeable about the products and the local producers and was able to tell us a little story about each product. He is clearly very passionate about what he does while at the same time not making you feel in any way under pressure to buy. A very enjoyable experience and I don't even like shopping!

Behind a discreet entrance and up a small flight of stairs, Canastra is a tasteful little shop specialising in quality local Portuguese products. The owner is incredibly knowledgeable about his hand-picked stock, and very willing to explain some of the more unusual items. We purchased a fabulous handmade carob wood table-board, which will be a much treasured memento of our time in the Algarve. We also bought a beautifully gift-wrapped almond liqueur, carob powder to make a carob cake when we get home and some local almonds. The proprietor makes the wooden products on site, having stored the carob wood for between 12-14 months to allow any water to evaporate. The shop also stocks handmade wicker baskets and placemats, honey and jams, a range of locally produced liqueurs, nuts, figs, local fish pastes and ceramic tiles. Prices are very reasonable. If we had room in our luggage, we could have purchased much more! Canastra is an absolute must if you are visiting Estoi. If you are staying in the nearby Pousada Palacio de Estoi, it is only a five minute walk from the hotel. In March when we visited, the shop was open from 10.30am to 2pm and 3pm to 7pm. It was closed on Mondays. Opening hours are written on a small blackboard by the door. You will made to feel very welcome even if you just want to browse. Highly recommended.

We had driven to Estoi to look at the palace and were wandering around the village when we noticed this shop/workshop. It has a very modest exterior and could be quite easily missed.

Inside it is beautifully laid out with artisan products from the region and the wood products of the owner.

The owner is charming, knowledgeable and completely passionate about the products within his shop, explaining in excellent English, that he focuses on three ingredients typical of the region - carob, almond and fig (I might be incorrect on third ingredient).

He told us all about the carob production and explained all the products. We bought some pumpkin jam to have with cheese and some lavender honey (guaranteed under EU regulations to have come from a minimum of 30% lavender flowers) and a pack of carob powder, which we are going to try adding to coffee on the owner's recommendation.

As we were travelling with a budget airline, near the end of our week's stay in the area and already beginning to panic about weight restrictions, we couldn't buy more, but would have loved a wooden chopping board.

We had been rather disappointed with the visit to the palace, but finding this gem of a shop really made the trip worthwhile and we would thoroughly recommend a visit.

Lovely shop with fascinating history given by the friendly shop owner (multi lingual) on the local products sold. We bought carob honey, almond stuffed figs, chilli oil and honeyed almonds - delicious!! Very close Estoi Palace and well worth a visit.

If you are anywhere in or near Estoi, this little shop in not to be missed. In fact, it's a very good reason to travel to Estoi. The quality of goods available is very high - we could easily have bought much more than we did. And, as others have mentioned, the owner is a mine of helpful information which he is very ready to share.

My husband and I were impressed by the hospitality and the educational lecture that Stephano, the owner of Canastra, provided us about the Algarve's agricultural production in Portugal. The store has a wide variety of regional products of high quality, at an affordable price. I really recommend you visit this well decorated and organized shop, located at 59 Rua Pe da Cruz, Estoi Algarve, Portugal!

If you are in Estoi, you cannot pass this shop. In fact, the owner is very vigilant, as you pass his door. But genuinely he has great produce, and he is a great source of information. We bought one of his wooden serving boards.

We stumbled across this little shop & were introduced to the local products (carob, figs, etc) by the very knowledgeable owner who spoke excellent English. He explained not only the uses for each of the products but also the history & economic importance.
Absolutely fascinating & amazing products, well worth a visit & definitely recommended for presents to take home.
