This is an offbeat place with a very idiosyncratic castle, very worth a visit. First of all, the scenery with rolling hills is striking and the castle itself is beautiful, if curious. It’s better to book ahead ( we learned after s as hour trip there when we had not reserved- luckily we got a place on a tour)!) The visits are all guided- not sure if and when they do English.

the place is very nice, with a peculiar feeling, it is well worth wandering trhrough its narrow streets.

This is a hidden gem in the Apennines and well worth the visit. There are two churches one of the Black Madonna, the other from a later period built by Knights Templar. In the first chapel in the under crypt is an Etruscan site where the ancient Pagans communed with their Gods. Very much worth seeing, but not easily accessible in winter.
