This is a must when you visit London. There is so much history to see. I was a little overwhelmed because of all the information so we took a break of 30 min after our first 2 hours in the church and then we resume the visit. The audio guide is all you need. Is very detailed. Videos are not allowed suiting your visit at least when we went. Pictures yes.
If you get overwhelmed there is a nice area where the bathrooms are that you can take a little break and then continue.
In general this was absolutely beautiful! I am planning of taking my kids to this amazing place next year. I strongly believe that everyone that visit London must visit this amazing place. I highly recommend this historic place.

On my bucket list for some time. I have had a romance with the outside of this place ever since moving to London, and was so inspired by this visit. The stairs are narrow but the architecture is simply beautlful, words cannot describe the intricacies of it all. Fantastic choice of place to go to, would recommend to anyone.

An idyll of peace..beautiful building, friendly people, a welcoming, clean cafe and clean, state of the art disabled toilets..all within a minute's walk of Victoria tube station. I often find London overwhelming and distressingly anonymous and deeply appreciated the space, peace and the welcome when I visited on 27th October.. I am thinking that this would be a great place for me to suggest to friends for meeting up in central London over the winter.

    Thank you.

Cafe-in-the-crypt excellent salads and snacks for lunchtime. Fairly priced for lunchtime in London. Worth queuing!

Beautiful cathedral which is well worth a visit in this busy corner of London. Entry is free although you can make a small donation, cafe looked interesting and there is also a really good shop. Look out for the cathedral cat too! Nice little garden area which makes it hard to believe you’re in the centre of London. Some beautiful stained glass windows, Shakespeare and Harvard connections galore. Well worth a visit.

I live in London and visiting Temple has been on my wish list for many years. Today was the day! Google maps didn’t really help finding the church and beware…Temple tube station has no disability help, all stairs. Charming gentleman on the door welcomed us to the Temple. Stunning place, truly lovely. Lots of information & historical illustrations, everything was well labelled.

Charming guy was very happy to answer questions and show relevant material from the plethora of books on sale. The climb upstairs is a challenge for those of an ageing or crumbling disposition - but the tiles are lovely. There’s a small stained glass window about 3m up the stairs.

There are facilities at the left hand side of the alter.

Peaceful with plenty of round chapel seating so you can soak up the tranquility. Enjoy.

Having walked past here on a number of occasions over the years,we decided to go in. The interior ground floor is very interesting and light and airy. There are two sets of stairs to the crypt, and we found the stairs with no signage,so we were unaware it led to a crypt. Having gone downstairs, there is a fascinating display of often unrelated bits of the history of London. These include the remains of a Roman floor,a commemorative plaque celebrating the baptism of William Penn (founder of Pennsylvania who was baptised here), and a statute from 900AD. Well worth 45 mins of your time.

Great preaching and music at the 11 am sung Eucharist in a 900 year old church; a superb Anglican service of worship. And coffee, too.

Actually, my trip was with my wife in 1996......my son, daughter-in-law, and
grandson are going next month (Aug,) This is a great destination for someone
to see the place where Methodism was born, John Wesley's home, office and church. A person can sit at his desk and look out the large windows and see his
mother's (Suzanna's) grave across the street. The church and downstairs museum
    and quite informative.
My wife, now deceased, and I were there right after Princess Diana had passed.
The church had been renovated with gifts from Margaret and Dennis Thatcher,
    Elton John, and many others.

Located between Bank and Cannon Street stations it is easy to miss St Stephen's church. It is close to the Starbucks and if it was not for the fact it is an old building you would miss it.

If you like old churches then you should probably hunt down this hidden gem.

A truly beautiful and historic church. Whether you are religious or not, you will not regret visiting this gem. Step inside and enjoy a quiet moment of reflection, enjoy the magnificent architecture, peruse the books of dedication to fallen RAF. Then step outside and admire the statue of Dr. Johnson and survey the WWII shrapnel damage still visible on the building. So much history in one building in a part of a London that is awash with it, right on the border where the City of Westminster meets the City of London.

If you’re fortunate enough to be here, as we were, when the bells play “Oranges and Lemons”, even better. They are played every day at 9 am, noon, 3pm and 6pm. (St. Clement Eastcheap is actually the church referenced in the song, but hey ho).

There are also many great pubs and restaurants nearby to grab a drink or lunch/dinner.

You can find this lovely artistic church in Bride Lane just off Fleet Street. Saint Brides Church is named after an Irish Saint called Bride. She was the patron Saint of Ireland. It is also called the Journalist’s Church because it was located in the heart of the British Newspaper Industry. There has been a church at this point for centuries. The current building is it 8th reincarnation. The medieval church here was destroyed by the 1666 Fire of London. Christopher Wren designed a beautiful new church here. It’s layered spire inspired a baker to bake a multi tiered wedding cake for his bride thus starting a new tradition. The 1940 Blitz caused the next destruction. This revealed the ancient crypts and bones of thousands of people buried beneath this church. They were all preserved when Wren’s church was restored. Do visit this quaint church to see layers upon layers of history. Do not miss the Roman ruins in the basement.

It was founded in the twelfth century and rebuilt from 1486 to 1523. It is a such a beautiful church. It is a medieval masterpiece, check out the details inside and outside. Be prepared to wait a lot to get into the church...
