Wonderful experience. Very informative and nostalgic. Was a privilege to be allowed to see so much of the yacht and have some insight into the private lives of the royals.
We had a sandwich and a glass of fizz to round off the visit, both of which were top class

Staff are incredible. They all went above and beyond to make my children feel comfortable and show them tricks to do to make the exhibits even cooler.
Museum itself is great. We spent just under 2 hours here and could have spent longer.

Great experience with very much displays and reading illustration on hand.
Spent around 4 hours and I would say it needs another 4 hours to cover the whole place.

It was very fun and interesting! And we got to make and eat so much very high quality chocolate. The truffle making experience is well worth it and the staff are incredibly friendly.

Mid-March is not the best time to be visiting a Scottish garden, but despite that, our visit to these Botanical Gardens was well worthwhile.

We tend to visit gardens wherever we are in the world and these Edinburgh gardens, just north of the New Town were extensive, very well maintained and contained a surprisingly wide selection of well established trees & plants. Of particular note are the significant Chinese gardens.

Like most of Edinburgh, the gardens have significant elevation changes which just adds to the visual depth of large area.

Like most major botanical garden admission is free and you could easily spend half a day here - even longer in late spring & summer.

And it’s on the blue route of the hop-on hop-off bus, with a stop right at the gates

We booked a timed tour online on the day that we were visiting. Paid less for a ticket and walked straight in. We loved the dungeons! The actors were really enthusiastic and funny and it was a good level of scary for us. Part way through the tour we had to ask to use the toilet - the actors were really helpful showing us out and helping us to rejoin the tour we were on. If you are someone that needs to know you have an exit, there are actors in each room who can help you at the end of their scene if needed. Great, fun experience, glad we went.

I went along with my boyfriend, he loved it as a kid but I didn't expect anything special
especially after the loss of their Crannog due to a fire. I couldn't have been more wrong, the staff were so passionate about archaeology and anthropology, and we're above and beyond your typical tour guides. The museum was very well explained and was great to get talked through the displays, and the outdoor interactive demos were spectacular. I didn't expect to be trying bread baked using iron age techniques, hand molding pottery or sitting by a campfire enjoying traditional storytelling and folklore. I'm super excited to see how they expand, the amount they packed into 1 acre was outstanding, so what they'll do with 12 acres of land is incredibly exciting. I've also never seen staff genuinely having so much fun while working, was an absolute delight

This is the amazing story of the earliest voyages to the most inhospitable place on earth, the Antarctic. Excellent displays of artefacts and stories about the crew and the hardships they endured and the incredible Captain Scott. There's also the dome gallery with a panoramic view of Dundee and the Tay. The highlight though is the RRS Discovery, built by skilled local shipbuilders to cope with the harsh Antarctic conditions which helped it endure two years trapped in ice. The expeditions were mainly scientific and were absolutely groundbreaking. This is all part of British and world history. There is also a very good cafe and shop. Combine the ticket with a visit to the Verdant jute mill.

This gallery has a broad selection of famous and skilled painters. Each subject area highlights a selection of the best, from Canaletto to Degas, to the Monarch of the Glen! The descriptions of the paintings are truly accessible and some are from young people and schools, which makes for fascinating reading.
A fabulous cafe on the ground floor level with delicious Cullen Skink, an interesting shop and decent toilets.
There’s also a very useful left luggage locker room which only costs £2 per locker - an excellent spend when you have to leave your holiday accommodation at 11.00am.
Everyone employed there was helpful and kind, cheerful and respectful. A delightful gallery indeed!

Came here for the first time the other day and found it incredibly fascinating. The whole place is a lot and it is for the weak stomach. My advice would be to actually spend the time reading all the information on display, they're really something!

Could easily spend an entire day here, or you could do it quickly if you glanced at everything, but you'd be doing yourself a disservice.

Wasn't a fan of the interactions we had with staff. It might've been an off day, but with they came across a bit rude, but it was the end of the day.

A lovely experience, the audio guide was most interesting. Very informative, and the staff were friendly and talkative. Take a coat and hat as the prison is freezing 🤣

We loved our visit here! There was lots of information but the best part is the volunteers. We met Lily who used to work in the mill and showed us the machines in use and gave us a wonderful explanation of her life. Really fascinating and made the trip so much better. We got the joint ticket which also lets you do the discovery point museum which is worth a visit also.
