- Luigi422 contributionsThe warehouse tasting provides to the whisky connoisseurs a unique opportunity to taste four old drams, taken directly from the casks, including one Lochnagar plus three variegate expressions from three different Diageo distilleries.
You take straight from the casks the liquid and then enjoy them in a very relaxing atmosphere in a warm drawing room. Eric is an excellent guide, being very communicative and loving the whiskies himself. The fact he is not a native English speaker, it is even better, because he is more understandable than local people when talking English! And Eric is full of enthusiasm and knwoledge. Very informative, and the staff were friendly and talkative. - Jacqui CInverness, UK631 contributionsWhat a gem! Firstly, it was free, donations accepted. We took the lift to the top floor and worked our way around the museum and down the circular stairs! Learning about the very interesting history of Aberdeen, from fishing port to oil over the centuries, with many interactive features. Staff on each floor to assist with enquiries, we spent a very enjoyable 1.5 hours on a damp Thursday morning in March.
Definitely worth a visit.Written March 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is an old fishing village area of Aberdeen with a distinctive layout of small colourful and differing distinctive cottages very close together. There are also a small number of business premises and the "streets" within the area are mainly paved paths rather than roads. Visitors need to respect the privacy of residents, when walking around the localityWritten February 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BarbaraRiekwelCoatbridge, UK524 contributionsWe visited knowing that only the castle grounds were open. The parking is £5 for the whole day. There are plenty of walks around the grounds so i suspect you can spend quite a few hours here. Nice to see the castle and go for a stroll. We had a wee bite to eat and a drink in the cafe which was ok as well. Enjoyed our visit.Written February 12, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- BexyatesBrechin, UK17 contributionsBeautiful castle and grounds, lovely little gift shop and the cafe was fantastic! Always had a soft spot for this wee castle since a child and love visiting it. - Chris JUpton Snodsbury, UK23 contributionsWe were there on a very cold New Year’s Eve for a walk with dogs and children. The scenery is amazing and watching stags grazing on the mountains above was special.Written January 21, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - x333xxxRingwood, UK221 contributionsI visited the museum on a wild weather day in November. I'd had some concerns re accessibility and had already been in touch with museum the previous day. Consequently I was welcomed like an old friend. As a fan of Scotland's distinctive lighthouses in often amazing locations, a visit to this museum was just magical. It was grand to learn about the construction of specific lighthouses and their general operation pre-automation. This gem of a museum deserves support from visitors and I cannot recommend a visit too highly.Written December 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - iloveuk_13Brisbane, Australia94 contributionsWe are very glad that Storm Babet receeded in time to allow us to visit Fyvie Castle. A beautiful building that exudes history and fascinating stories. I mainly want to thank Sheila, our tour guide, for her patience, charm and sense of humour - she really brought the house alive for us. This place is definitely worth a visit. Also, go to the tea rooms - delicious.Written November 3, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
