- dccv1Toronto, Canada318 contributionsA fascinating and different sort of museum housed in an old church, this Musee features a wide collection of iron things from long ago. The intricate and detailed iron work on locks, ornaments etc. is quite amazing. Worth a visit.Written December 12, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Hope34 contributionsThis place was definitely well worth a stop. It was very well done and very informative. The tower at the top that allowed a 360 degree view of Rouen was really beautiful as well. We went in February and we were nearly the only people there. Loved it.Written March 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- FrederickWentworthRouen, France1,080 contributionsHidden away to the left of the grand entrance of the Préfecture which has replaced the former general hospital (the last major civil building erected before the Revolution). Interesting on three accounts: this is where Flaubert's father and Flaubert himself lived ; this is where one of the famous Flaubert's parrots is kept (the other one is kept at the Museum--nobody knows which one is the real thing but who cares?) ; this is where they keep a fairly unique set of leather puppets used in the XVIIIth C. to teach midwives how to deliver babies. They used to have the one and only hand-coloured 1st edition of Andreas Vesalius' De humani corporis fabrica--a treasure which was stolen a few years ago.Written September 4, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DeniseMarkMoffat Beach, Australia36 contributionsA great museum with a vast variety of exhibits and stories . From Vikings - which we particularly enjoyed up to modern day.
The museum makes a great change from visiting Cathedrals, ruins and beautiful art galleries.
Would love to see more English translations and information on the amazing Gustavo-Flaubert Bridge.

I never realised what a fantastic museum it was until I entered. It has an extraordinary collection of artifacts to human history, even earlier than the Roman occupation of France.
The Roman mosaic was stunningly beautiful & in wonderful condition, Egyptian mummies, Greek art & pottery are just some of the items on display.
It’s collection of Merovingian & Carolingian treasures are fantastic. It also has some terrific medieval relics & coinage, Roman sculptures & great little gift shop.
The best part is it’s free to enter & I couldn’t believe I was the only person visiting this fantastic museum. If you want to see some amazing artifacts without the crowds or line ups while in Rouen, then this is a must-see place to visit. Is my favourite museum in France.
It was a truly amazing place to visit & buy some well priced souvenirs.Written September 8, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Lots of children were at the Natural History Museum shouting, running bc of school break. We tried to get out as fast as possible. The Antiquities side was quieter, a bonus, and we enjoyed it a lot. Recommended.Written October 23, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Patrick PRoeland Park, KS195 contributionsThe 400-year old home of a great playwright, just a few steps away from the old market, is worth a quick visit. Enough of the old house has been preserved to give one a feeling for what it was like, and there are a few exhibits about the great man. We had difficulty finding it because it was unlike the phot in tripadvisor. There is no garden.Written May 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
