Visit on a Sunday afternoon after 2pm for free entry. Busy but lovely walk around with good views of the city and sea. Doesn't need ages, no interpretation provided - just wander and take in the sights

Not your typical museum. Great exhibits, cars and dresses and more.
We were missing the audio tour, temporarily unavailable but the plaques were explanatory.
Staff very polite and welcoming. And most importantly it wasn’t as overcrowded as the museums in the centre.
Check opening hours before you set off.

Had a lovely walk around the cathedral, had to queue for tickets but wasn't overly busy once inside. Not the most spectacular or ornate church I've been in but it's vast and beautiful and worth a visit.
We paid extra to go to the rooftop, there were many steps to climb but it was worth it for the views over the city.

A lovely little museum containing an exquisite collection of glass in a beautiful building.
Everyone gets a guided tour and the wonderful Ricardo was our guide. We went a bit in, but when the tour ended he took us back so we could enjoy the beginning that we had missed. Ricardo was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. A highlight was seeing glass from Ireland where my sister lives and Swedish glass from Orrefors where I live.
Thank you Ricardo for a memorable experience.

Well curated temporary exhibition showed Picasso’s influence on other artists, while many museum sections were closed for renovations. Don’t miss once new permanent show opens shortly. Excellent light meal counter with access to peaceful large garden area. Also don’t miss ruins on underground level from various periods of Malaga’s history.

After visiting Alcazabar we walked up the steep path to Gibralfaro, The views from the top over the city below and the surrounding countryside were excellent. If you can’t manage the walk up (about 30/40 minutes and quite steep) you can get the bus. The cafe and toilets in the fortress were very welcome

The walk from the old town to the harbour/Muelle Uno takes about 30 minutes. You can either walk through the pleasant gardens or along the front overlooking the harbour and the lighthouse. Lots of cafes -our favourite was Granier. Muelle Uno is a busy shopping centre but you can walk beyond it and get on to the promenade by the beach

A visit to the indoor market is a must. Rows of meat, fish, fruit, nuts and vegetable stalls. The Art Deco/ Modernista window at one end is amazing and lightens up the interior. Good place to buy snacks. Modernista buildings in the nearby narrow streets. Also terminus for bus to Botanic gardens

The no. 2 bus from the Atarazanas has a regular service. However, its about a 20 minute walk uphill from the terminus to the entrance to the park (you have to cross under the motorway to get there). The park is massive but has a well signposted trail of paths around it. There is a good cafe and plenty of toilets around the paths. There is a lot of information as you walk round both about the history of the gardens and its founders. Different areas focus on particular aspects of subtropical plants e.g. the Mediterranean plants, the cacti area, Palm trees. We visited in February but imagine that there would be a riot of colour from Spring to Autumn. We spent the whole day there and still didn’t see everything.

Excellent Museum in old town.. Had temporary exhibition of Man Ray Photographs. The main permanent exhibition concentrated on the history of Andalusian art. It was very well curated and as well as landscapes of the area, covered the history and traditions of Andalusia up to the twentieth century. We went to quite a few art museums in Malaga during our holiday and were pleased that we had gone here first, Good cafe and shop too.

Very nice green place for relax. A big variety of trees and flowers. A lot of benches and people passing. Free! Good connection to the castle and local restaurants.

For one a half euros, this is good place to visit. The archeology floor is separate from the art floor. Both are well done. If you want to split the visit into two times (and spring twice for the modest admission), that would work too and allow for leisurely visits there is more than three hours worth of gentle touring here.
