In a city that has many great fountains in my opinion Cibeles Fountain is the most beautiful ,it's certainly the most photographed as it stands on Plaza De Cibeles and is in front of Palacio De Cibeles ,one of the most beautiful buildings in Madrid.
The fountain has stood on Plaza De Cibeles since the 18th century, the fountains design is magnificent ,Roman goddess of fertility Cybele on a chariot pulled by fierce looking lions ,it's just an outstanding piece of art and is always a joy to view ,if you're planning a holiday to Madrid it's a fountain and area to most definitely check out.

This fountain is one of the most beautiful and majestic fountains in Madrid. It is located in the middle of a busy roundabout.

Because of the traffic, it is impossible to get very near to this fountain. We were lucky to see it from the window of our hotel room at NH Paseo del Prado.

This neoclassical fountain was completed in 1786. It depicts the crowned Roman god having a trident in one hand while he grabs a sea snake with the other hand.

Worth a walk by. Our tour director mentioned this statue and since we were nearby and intrigued decided to see it. It is a nice walk through the park where you will see lots of locals enjoying the outside. I would not go out of my way to see this but it is definitely unique based on representation to take a peek at.

Walking through Parque De Oeste I came across this great looking fountain and what a wonderful find.
The fountain is in honour of architect Juan De Villanueva ,the famous 18th century architect, the work of architect's Victor D'Orts,Manuel Ambros and Joaquin Nunez Mera and sculptured by Santiago Costa ,its a great looking fountain but it wasn't always located here ,it stood for many years on San Vincent Roundabout until being relocated to Parque De Oeste ,its most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area and easy to locate along Calle De Camiens in the park.

Located in Parque Del Retiro is Estanque Grande Del Retiro ,the big artificial boating lake which is so beautiful ,around this artificial lake are great buildings ,statues and great fountains ,one that intrigued me was Fuente De Las Esfinges .
Known as the Egyptian Fountain ( Fuente De Las Esfinges ) was the work of architect Isidro Gonzalez Velazquez and installed in 1850 ,it's a beautiful Neo Classical piece of architecture and was clearly influence by the European expeditions to Egypt in the 18th & 19th centuries ,it's a great fountain to behold and in fact it's fascinating ,you have the canonic vessel ,the two sphinxes that face each other are magnificent ,it's just a very cool area of this lake to view and most definitely well worth checking out if you're planning on visiting Parque Del Retiro.

Fuente de Orfeo is not a huge fountain, quite the contrary, it is much smaller than people might expect. But size does not matter in this case. It is quite a lovely sight, with a statue in the middle. It is located in the small Plaza Provincia, between two streets, one of which is Plaza Mayor. It is opposite the Palacio de Santa Cruz, a beautiful baroque building that is home to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Worth a visit if you are in the vicinity.

This new fountain is located in front of the main entrance to Jardines de Sabatini

The fountain consists of marble stones where water comes out between them, as if they were levitating, to imitate the clouds and the sky. Or at least that was the intention of the artists.

There are so many more stunning fountains in Madrid than this one.
