- Alexandra K3 contributionsI really enjoyed visiting this place. It has great collection of artworks by different artists like Rene Magrit,Picasso,Degas,Chagal,Pisarro and other famous artists .For me most important were artworks by Lucien Freud,Siegmund Freuds grandson. It was first time for me to discover his works.
I highly recommend his museum!Written March 12, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Well taken care of with a beautiful garden that is open to visitors. If you wish to tour the house, reservations must be made in advance, either with email or phone call. Tours are no charge. Our guide was so knowledgeable - a delightful tour!Written October 30, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ros13673Amsterdam, The Netherlands40 contributionsIt was a bank holiday so entrance was free, but otherwise it is good value too. It is a nice small museum and it is like going back in time with antique furniture and artworks. Read a bit up before visiting, which will make it more special.Written February 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mairwen1United Kingdom9,567 contributionsThis street was one of the highlights of our trip to Madrid. It might only be a relatively short street but it’s one of the best. It’s a warren of tapas bars, with around 50 or so in the one small area. We started at one end and made our way along them, picking and choosing in a random sort of way. The street follows the curves of the original 12th-century city wall and in some of the bars like Posada del Dragon, you can still see remains of some of the wall.
Our top three places were:
1. La Concha
2. Pousada del Dragon
3. Casa Luca
La Concha was our absolute favourite. A tiny place full of character that served an amazing vermouth cocktail and complimentary tapas. They make their own vermouth which they sell at €12 a bottle. We left with our backpack clinking because we'd bought two.

If limited on time, could give it a miss. It's also not easy to see. Not many private guides are equipped with it's history, fortunately we found one that was and went at reserved 10:45am time slot on a weekday recently. Only allowed to stay 45 minutes but that's plenty since it's small/only can see limited areas. Nothing too outstanding to see but nice, and we love in-depth historical places of cities, so it intrigued us. They have very limited tours done by facility in English so see if can find if not with guide.Written October 28, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Aronielle1 contributionI am a huge fan of Madame Tussauds museums and have visited most of them in the U.S. as well as the original museum in London. I realized that this museum was not part of the Mme Tussauds brand but was hoping for a similar experience. Unfortunately, it was largely disappointing.
The focus of the Madame Tussauds collections, in my view, is an incredibly life-like representation of the protagonists, while Museo de Cera seems to be focused on telling a story and less concerned with the quality of the figures. With the exception of 2-3 figures that were truly life-like, the rest were very clearly, well... wax figures. So the magic wasn't there.Written March 23, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. One for the artistic relationship between Gonzalez /Picasso and one for the work of photographer Bing. both of them were well curated and informative particularly the exhibition of Picasso/Gonzalez where you get to know the similarities and influences between the two friends. The entrance was free. I haven't visited any permanent exhibition in this placeWritten November 20, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Hungry-Hedgehog-22St. Albans, UK40 contributionsInteresting but was disappointed that the history of Madrid appears to end at around 1900. I’m sure that the twentieth century history is worth documentingWritten September 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SG123Spain130 contributionsVisited as a group of friends in our late teens. Be aware that reservation is now necessary but it is completely free.
Very easy access from Sol Metro station and easy to locate. Inside the building is modern with funky architecture.
The exhibitions area amazing (the telecommunications one is a little dull in comparison) but the colours and paisajes del luz ones were great.
I’d definitely recommend if you have a free hour in Madrid.Written September 5, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Neil KLiverpool, UK619,734 contributionsThe Catedral De La Almudena is a great looking cathedral building, beautiful to view ,a great example of Neo Gothic style architecture, very popular with tourists as its in the Pacaio De Real Madrid complex, there's a museum inside the cathedral that's quite interesting, all in all a great cathedral building to check out if you're planning a holiday to Madrid.Written August 25, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - M GArlington, VA95 contributionsThis is a small museum in Madrid dedicated to the archaeology and history of the city. Entry is free, and exhibits include a wide variety of displays and artifacts describing the earliest days of human habitation in the region through about the sixteenth or seventeenth century. My favorite exhibits included models showing the urban development of Madrid over time.
Though small, the sixteenth-century building itself is a highlight. There are multiple levels and numerous details to explore, such as a lovely interior courtyard and an ancient well.
When I visited there was a temporary exhibit featuring large-scale photography of an archaeological site in Egypt. I really appreciated that the pictures focused on the local Egyptian workers participating in the dig.
Highly recommended for those interested in history, archaeology, and architecture.Written March 31, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
