What travelers are saying
- Jason SMelbourne, Australia1,693 contributionsWhat an amazing place to see and explore, easy to get to from Genoa and surrounding areas.
With post card views from above and around Bay Area, certainly not cheap to buy things or have lunch but worth the day trip to see this spectacular place. One of the best views from my time in Italy.Written August 1, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jason SMelbourne, Australia1,693 contributionsProbably one of the better angles for taking photos at sea level, also some nice restaurant s also to dine in ( not cheap)
With the colours of the building the water and boats it’s really a beautiful area to see visually.Written August 1, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is a heck of a walk up here but well worth the journeyWritten February 21, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Michael-Traveller-JPDüsseldorf, Germany423 contributionsThe harbour of Portofino is one of the most picturesque in Liguria. Unfortunately this also makes it probably the most expensive place along the coast and one that is overrun by tourists. Thus when visiting, it’s highly recommended to come early before the arrival of all the boats with group tours.
It’s definitely a place to visit once when in the area. We went there, took some nice pictures and then proceeded to some less crowded and less expensive places.Written October 1, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There is a bar/restaurant at the end if you are thirsty or hungry. The lighthouse itself is perched on what seems to be the very edge of the land, high above the sea. Walking there and back offers some beautiful views of Portofino. If you have time, the walk is worth it.Written August 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jason SMelbourne, Australia1,693 contributionsWhen you walk up hill and see the beautiful yellow exterior of the church you are already admiring the church.
Inside small but stunning design with architectural design and colours.
Only a few minute walk from
Town centre a must see when in Portofino., also behind church is a nice little cemetery.Written August 1, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Relatively short walk from the marina but make sure you know where you can find the stairs down. Very small, rocky beach but it’s gorgeous. The water and views were amazing. With everything else it Portofino breaking the bank, this was an amazing free thing to do. My kids loved swimming here. Best to bring some shoes for the rocky beach.Written December 20, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Malcolm McDGlasgow, UK450 contributionsThis is an open air museum set just off the harbour in Portofino. There is a lot of interesting and unusual and colourful artworks. seems a bit out of place in this setting but certainly grabs the attention.Written October 16, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - on_the_go_98765Tucson18,350 contributionsThis is a 14th cenury "oratory" (i.e. a room or building where Christians go to pray). It is dominated by the two crucifix statues (one white and one black) weighing close to 250 pounds each. They are elegant, detailed, and have a very unique appearance in that the 3 ends of each crucifix look like they grew intricate silvery paddles. On the feast day of St. George, a procession takes them out of the church. It must be a beautiful sight with the sun shining off those large silver paddles.
If the purpose is to come here to pray, the deteriorating condition of the church oratory will not be a distraction. The interior is devoid of the usual trappings of a traditional church.Written September 21, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
