- Pavlos ZAthens, Greece18 contributionsThat beach (also the rest of orosei) is a reason to visit Sardinia. Turquoise waters, spectacular scenery. Accessible only by boat.Written August 14, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- AmCoMelle, Belgium24 contributionsVery friendly, knowledgeable and kind staff: we had an unforgettable tour in English by Andrea Lintas, very erudite, local guide - strongly recommended to truly understand the sight (even if you have read before).
If you have a chance, once you do the physical walk of the sight, also do thereafter the ‘virtual tour’ with the help of a VR headset. This is a three-dimensional reconstruction of how the town looked in the Phoenician, Roman (and current-areal photography) times based on the extensive reconstruction done by 4 Italian universities working on the sight (including recent discoveries of the plaster wall and ceiling decorations). It is the best ever use of modern technology we have seen by any archaeological site or museum. It was educational, visually impressive and, very importantly - working with no glitches. We were truly impressed and absolutely recommend it as a compliment to the physical walk - totally worth the money. Much better destination than the coast. Plus if you love visiting, cycling, hiking, secluded beaches, everything is there. I would recommend to not make the mistake of only visiting for the day. The village has a lot to offer, plenty of great places to just sit have a coffee, great restaurants. Plus staying ion Maddalena, gives you the chance to visit the city, the island, get on Caprera for hiking from fabulous coves to coves. We did not do the boat day tours, though no time. Maddalena was a highlight of our tripWritten June 15, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- SouzanErlangen, Germany39 contributionsWe happened to find this beach by coincidence and were blown away.
It was tucked away, locals welcomed the tourists and the beach was held very clean.
You were offered cold fruit for way too much money, but it was so worth it.Written July 19, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Also a very good (and flat) jogging and cycling route if you enjoy that. Not that many restaurants for such a large area and the ones I went in struggled with English...but nothing Google Translate couldn't fix.Written May 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NikJAscot, UK843 contributionsParked 1km from the end in an EasyPark bay. Walked the last stretch into capo testa. Used AllTrails for an overview of all the trails around the park.
From the entrance by the cafe, went right and along the coastland path. Went to the far north area to the climb up to the rock.
Nice, though in sept was still v hot so plenty of water required.Written September 10, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There were, however, tickets available on the morning when we turned up at 8am.
We stayed in a really cute B&B in Baunei so got to the entrance when it opened. Parking is at Su Porteddu bar. At the entrance there was someone there checking shoes to make sure we had the right footwear. It was quite a rugged hike and I felt more “moderate” than “easy”! It took us 1.5 hours to get there. Was definitely worth the effort with the view you got at the end! Take lots of water and food as there are no facilities on the beach itself. It is very stoney so we were glad we had brought our wet shoes with us. It took us the same amount of time to get back and we felt a little easier as was ascending rather than descending. We took a boat trip the following day around the Baunei coast and viewed the beach from there as the boats are not allowed to pull up in the beach. It honestly felt like a different beach viewing it from the outside! So glad we did the hike because it was a much better experience than just viewing it from the water. A really lovely day.Written October 25, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Sand is comfortable and not sticky. Clean and green surroundings. There are also 2 beach bar/restaurants with restroom.
Make sure to arrive there before 9 am as there is only a limited capacity and it can get full quickly after 9. I saw few other similar ones within 10-15 minute drive nearby.
We returned twice during our holidays in Sardegna as it was one of the most outstanding beaches during our trip.
Make sure to try the brioche and espresso in the near by, bar at just 8 minutes drive from this beach, in the town of domus maria.Written August 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - IlyaNJMarlboro, NJ1,010 contributionsIs Arutas contends for the title of the most beautiful beach in all of Sardinia. Uniquely, the sand here is of the larger white-quartz type, and your feet sink in with every step. The water is gorgeous, although the sea floor drops quickly after just a handful of meters. There are several bars along the beach, with paid toilets, but we did not see any rental facilities.Written September 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Veronika KPrague, Czech Republic6 contributionsFrom our experience the best beach close to the city (if you walk), the others close to the city are overcrowded with no shade available.
Maria Pia has beautiful trees that are offering shade - but come really early to get your spot between the trees. Also be careful about the signs around the trees, some spots cannot be access and the police is coming to check it regularly (signs only in Italian)
So far the only beach with shells underwater that we found - good for snorkeling ! :)Written August 18, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Very nicely located beach, shielded from strong winds and a rocky peninsula to explore and for romantic pictures.Written November 18, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TontotravelsWinslow, UK466 contributionsOne of the few naturist beaches in Sardinia and probably one of the nicest. The route to the beach is over rough roads so take it easy, come from the north and you will need to ford a stream.
