Amazing and highly recommended experience. We were welcomed by the friendliest of hosts…Beatriz and our tour started with a visit to the animals. Kids really enjoyed feeding and learning about the various animals on the farm. We then spent a few minutes learning about tools used by our ancestors which was followed by a letter to Santa Claus and a visit to Santa’s house (kids loved it). Our visit ended with a visit to the winery and some amazingly good wine tasting.

As stated above we highly recommend a visit to this farm.

Francesco, Franca & Maria are hosts extraordinaire.
An unforgettable experience of exquisite food, views & hands-on education. You will never think of olives & olive oil the same again!
    Grazie mille, ed arrivederci! 🙌

The area of Siracusa is the only one in Europe where papyrus grows spontaneously.
Very close to the Archaeological park there is a papyri plantation, where they are collected and worked.

It is a very good place to visit, seeing the plants along the small river in peaceful surroundings is very relaxing.

There is also a small zoo of domestic animals (such as roosters and hens, chicks, goats, ...). At the end of the tour the owner demonstrates how papyri are obtained from the plants, and a few painted / printed papyri are on sale.

We had a wedding to go to and we also decided to make a weekend of it. Having a 5 year old in tow we really didn't want to do the whole 'Decent hotel' thing, so my wife looked for and found this farm for a decent price with animals, which in Italian is called a 'Fattoria Didatica'. Where we live in the Ragusa Province there are plenty of them which we regularly visit so I had a certain idea of what to expect.

And those expectations were blown out of the water. This is obviously a 'working farm' specialising mainly in horses, but they have a large area set aside to raising and cultivating the food they use for sunday lunch. So there's plenty of other animals around the place, cows, pigs, chickens, ducks, peacocks, rabbits. And of course, the dogs. My only real complaint is that my favourite dog of the lot (a 5 month old pup called Leo) is obviously a ladies man and quickly made it clear he preferred hanging out with her to chilling with me.

My boy really enjoyed the farm, this spoilt the wedding we were attending a LOT because he spent all day wanting 'to go back to the farm'. Being allowed to roam around free with animals and getting to know them is something he needs more experience with. He loved the horses, the roosters and the dogs, though he liked everything else too. I know he paid attention on the tour because he repeated a lot of the stuff over and over again in the car on the way back.

We also enjoyed the Sunday lunch and I have to confess that I'd been eating for two days straight (Sicilian Weddings) and I told the waiter and the owner not to be offended if I didn't eat much. But honestly I'm not a huge fan of typical 'agriturismo' food. It's okay and I'll eat it, but there are other things I prefer. This was honestly one of the best places I've eaten in Sicily, it's somewhere in my top 5. There was nothing particularly inspiring about the dishes, they were just... good... wholesome and well made. I even ate my veggies.

This is over-long, but I really enjoyed my stay here. The whole point of the trip (my friend's wedding) was in the end, a hindrance to spending more time with my wife and boy at the 'Fattoria Jannarella', because my kid has to say the full name every time now.

Thanks Roberta, her team (Valentina's tour was excellent) and Dora and Leo for a great weekend!

If you visit this island and are moored/staying in the main harbor, then this is a closely option for a vineyard visit on Salina.
We moored "Nemesi" here in June and arranged for a tasting at the vineyard. A taxi van took us there and back, and the experience far exceeded our expectations.
First there was a very short tour of the grapes and capers processing operations, and then we were led to a nice table for six set outside with a superb view.
We all opted for the wine tasting with some food, and we ended up not going out to dinner, having nibbled enough.
The history and the paintings that become wine labels were interesting to hear. If you like Malvasia, they do a nice wine here.

Getting here takes a few hours but once you step on to the property, you are transported to a magical, beautiful and peaceful place. Sit outside in the patio, enjoy the stars and a glass of wine. Be prepared for the most deletable, local and carefully prepared meals. Enjoy the wine tasting, hiking, the refreshing pool and terrific hospitality.

Limoneto is well located for getting to and from Syracuse. After the first (learning) trip, we could make the trip in about 15 - 20 minutes. Rooms were well kept and clean, there is a nice pool, although we never used it--spent our time touring. Breakfasts were basic and dinners had good selection and well cooked meals. Would definitely use this place again if in the area for its good location to archeological sites

This family run business offers own produce as wine, sweet wine, olive oil and various flavours of honey. You can taste the different products before buying, so a good place to visit to buy and take home some good tastes of Sicily.

We had a wonderful tasting of Sicilian products. We bought lots of products to ship to Holland because everything what we've tasted was full of flavor. The people are very friendly! If you are in Sicily you have to go to taste these products!
