An absolute must for a sunset/sunrise visit. It is a climb though so may be difficult for someone less mobile. Go with enough time to find a seat on the steps and bring a drink 🌞

The outside of the church on the piazza is so pleasant and beautiful, even in the rain. The respite inside, with the glorious altar and warm candle glow, is comforting. Spent less than an hour inside but if you’re a church buff (or Catholic), it’s worth taking in a service.

We stayed outside, but could not get in due to the long queue- it is really important to book in advance, though there was a queue of ticker holders to enter longer than the queue for tickets.

The outside is amazing, an essential Italian Piazza experience. Choose your season if you really want to save time.

    Must do.

As the political heart of the Florentine Republic since the 14th century, Piazza della Signoria has been at the epicentre of many significant events in the city's history, from ceremonial events to festivals and rallies. After all, this square was the scene of the historic Bonfire of the Vanities instigated by the preacher Savonarola, who was then executed and burnt here in 1498 after he was denounced by Pope Alexander VI as a heretic. Several iconic Florence attractions made their homes right here at the square, including the Palazzo Vecchio, Loggia dei Lanzi, Neptune Fountain, replica statue of Michelangelo's "David", and Italy's top art museum, the Uffizi Gallery. With such a rich concentration of Florence's famous attractions, you can almost be guaranteed that this piazza will be constantly lively and buzzing with crowds. It is also relatively close to the riverside and the renowned Ponte Vecchio bridge, as well as conveniently linked to Piazza del Duomo through the shopping street, Via dei Calzaiuoli.

Must do if you’re visiting Florence: the basilica is the burial place of many famous names. There are some Giotto’s paintings and two beautiful cloisters . Also, the “ Christ on the cross “ by Cimabue (1200) which was damaged by the flood in 1966 . The cappella dei Pazzi ( famous Florence family) is also part of this wonderful place. A very interesting visit

    Go and have breakfast here!

This market is full of lovely produce and upstairs are eateries with delicious local foods. Well priced and lovely for breakfast or lunch. Breakfast for 4 with drinks and patisseries cost around €20, which for Florence is excellent. Enjoy!

The Bell Tower, which is visible from nearly every vantage point in the city, is one of the most iconic landmarks of Florence. The free-standing tower, 280 feet tall, is considered the best example of 14th-century Gothic architecture in the city.  Views from the top are said to be breathtaking, but at 414 steps, I didn’t make the trip, since I didn’t know how they would get me down after my heart attack. We walked from Via Veneto to the Vatican. On the way back we discovered the Treva Fountain
The restaurants are fabulous. From hamburger fast food to elegant restaurants the food can't be beat.

The widely-published info on hours of monks charting is incorrect. They chant at 6.30 each day. We arrived at 4.30 (as all online guides we found said this was the time for chanting in winter). At 4.45 asked the man at the door who said it is always 6.30. So we came back a couple of days later and did enjoy it. The church is cold if you sit for long. The floor is lovely (zodiac mosaic). Interesting restoration work currently going on. Well worth the short walk up from Piazzale Michelangelo, and has even better views of the city

We purchased tickets on line prior to our trip for 8:15am entry. Great to be early and beat the crowds. The climb was fine. At times very tight circles and at the end very steep. I found going down more of a challenge. The view from the top was stunning on a beautiful sunny morning. I don’t like heights but felt safe at the top as it was all wired in. Do the climb.

It is well-known that Florence was at the epicenter of the Renaissance Movement that swept across Europe from the 14th to the 17th centuries, and no parts of the city better captures these remarkable cultural and scholarly pursuits than Centro Storico, the historic centre of Florence. Deservedly recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the work of great Renaissance masters such as Michelangelo, Giotto, Brunelleschi and Botticelli are evident within the 505 hectares historic centre bounded by the remains of the city's 14th-century walls (represented by surviving forts, towers and gates) and dissected by the River Arno - from the Florence Cathedral and Basilica di Santa Croce to the Uffizi Gallery and Pitti Palace. Interspersed amongst these historic icons of Florence are hundreds of elegant boutiques, cafes, lively street markets and nightclubs as modern lifestyles fuse seamlessly with the cultural and artistic heritage of this Renaissance City. No other place on this planet has such a rich concentration of the legacy of the Renaissance period, which makes it all the more that Florence should rank amongst the top of your travel bucket list!

Stunning architectural building full of sculptures, paintings and antiquities of centuries ago from Florence. Quieter than the other museums and cool to sit out of the heat and hustle and bustle of the city. A must visit for sure.

Absolutely beautiful church. Amazing paintings in the cloisters and the Uccello’s inside are worth the visit alone!
A bit confused by entrance, and initially queued at the wrong location, but as I had prebooked a ticket discovered entry was quick and easy from the Station side.
    Will definitely return!
