Formigine's castle is "my local": I grew up here. It is lovely for a stroll and interesting for children and well-situated in a pleasant pedestrianised area.

Centred on the production of stunning Parmigiana Regiana but with a cornucopia of delicious goodies. You can see the cows that produce the milk that makes the fantastic cheese. Forget the big manufacturers and go to the farm

Acetaia Valeri, located in a lovely country home at the end of a tree lined street approximately 20 minutes from Modena, provided a warm and welcoming introduction to the art of producing exquisite balsamic vinegar. A proud family tradition was passionately and generously shared throughout the tour/tasting that concluded with wine and local foods of the region that paired beautifully with the vinegar. Without question, it was an experience we will not hesitate to recommend to our friends.

Formigine is a quiet little town with a good selection of bars and restaurants. There is a lovely little bar down the stairs to the right of the castello bridge - I would highly recommend it for a glass of prosecco during aperitivo!

A beautiful little square to relax in as well.

The Rossi Barattine family produces balsamic vinegar in the traditional way. During our visit we learned how the must is cooked and seasoned, and how the product ages in wooden barrels over decades. The owner is enthousiastic about his product, the history of the family and the Azienda. We tasted some fabulous vinegar, and bought some of it to bring home. A really good experience!

We were lucky to play on Monday morning in February. Fairly empty, nice weather, very good, fast greens. Layout of the course is challenging. Long par 4's and a par 5 of 540 m yellow tees. Water is clearly in play. 18th gives an interesting " shortcut" to the green but only for longhitters. Nice clubhouse with friendly staff.
