My taste buds are still tingling from this tour! I was lucky enough to be the only person signed up so I had my own private tour. Iliya was a consummate guide – full of information on local traditions and of course the delicious Bulgarian food. First stop was the farmer’s market where I was tasked with buying certain products and had to try to speak only Bulgarian which was a cool, unique experience. Iliya then took us to some authentic, out of the way places where we tried Banitsa (my favourite), Halva (actually, this could have been my favourite), special tea, rose jam, and many other traditional foods (I don't want to give away too much) finishing with a honey degustation. There was so much food and I even got to take some leftovers away with me. This was such a good value tour, not rushed, and I feel like I’ve had a genuine Bulgarian experience. Special mention that as a solo person I didn’t have to book for 2 people (like most other tours). You won’t regret booking this tour – it was the best thing I did in Plovdiv! All the best to you Iliya and Daniel and hopefully you’ll have your cooking class up and running by the next time I’m in Plovdiv.
