What travelers are saying
- joellen0713Connecticut266 contributionsThis is a place Delhi-ites go to relax and escape the craziness of the city. The gardens and buildings have been beautifully restored and are a pleasure to walk around but what I loved most was seeing local people out enjoying themselves. We visited on a Saturday and the park was full of people having picnics, playing bingo, taking selfies, playing frisbee. It was great to see another side of Delhi. It is very near the Lodhi Gardens and Humayan’s Tomb and the three together make for a great day.Written March 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PoojaNew Delhi, India55 contributionsCafes restaurants shopping monastery - all in one place! Its a good market to spend a whole day trying out new traditional cuisines viz Tibetan salty tea..laphing. fine dining restaurants and tiny street food outlets all make this place worth visiting! Korean products can be seen on shops and Dalai Lama hangouts catch your eye every few steps..
The metro station near by is Vidhan sabha.
A place that that signifies how Delhi envelopes different cultures- people warmly!Written February 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The Agrasen ki Baoli, or Ugrasen ki Baoli, references a King Agrasen/Ugrasen, of the Sisodia clan, who is regarded as the forefather of the Agrawal community. Agrasen/Ugrasen is believed to have built this baoli, which (given that Agrasen/Ugrasen ruled some 5,000 years ago) seems hard to believe. The baoli’s architecture, in fact, is more distinctly Lodhi in style.
The steps here number just over a hundred, and descend three levels to get down to the water (which is stagnant and filthy). On either side, similar to other step-wells such as Rajon ki Baoli, there are rows of arched cells. Just above the baoli, off to one side, is a mosque with arches and medallions of incised plaster.
No entry fee is required to enter. Try to visit on a weekday, when it’s less crowded, or if on a weekend, well before noon. Later in the day, because of the baoli’s popularity with cinema lovers (scenes from a couple of Hindi films, PK and Sultan, have been filmed here), it gets quite busy.Written November 1, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ghoomboomNew Delhi, India107 contributionsThis is a small Haveli in a small crowded street of Chandni Chowk In Old Delhi. It was here that Mirza Ghalib spent last nine years of his life. The visit takes you back 150 years in history and brings in mind the images when Ghalib would have lived here. Sheer delight. The place has now been converted into a small museum of sort where things related to Ghalib are kept and his poetry is written. I had visited Chandni Chowk so many times earlier but was not aware of this historical jewel in one of the alleys. Quite clean and calm, must visit if you love Ghalib and his poetry.Written January 13, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LaurenSydney, Australia1 contributionWonderful experience. Preeti is a great teacher who is a fantastic cook. We did the vegetarian class. I learnt a lot about spices and the basic steps of Indian dishes. The food we cooked was amazing.
Preeti and her husband welcome you into their house. - Kalasva A1 contributionWe had a very good experience with Rinku singh during our 7 day trip in shimla, kullu, manali. He was always discreet, friendly, helpful and always on time. His car was always clean and had extra leg space in the back for a relaxed traveling experience. He called every accomodation. Rinku singh always wanted to offer the best service for us and to make our trip as safe and comfortable as it could be. We felt very good with his calm and concentraded driving skills - especially in the loud and full indian cities.
We highly recommend his service and would always book with him again.Written March 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Kaustav made us feel very comfortable, including my husband who was actually quite nervous. Kaustav clearly loved dance and he talked us through the meaning of the dances as well. We learnt 3 dances and had a recording of each one on my phone for the memories! Thank you Kaustav!Written March 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Sightsee121704789811 contributionWhat struck me the most about The Carpet Cellar was the variety and choice that was available in one place.
And they have some exquisite pieces that will stay in your mind long after..
But the most amazing part of our experience was surely our meeting and interaction with Mudita.. not only is she so knowledgeable and well versed in this field, she also seemed to understand very easily and quickly exactly what we wanted and guided us accordingly..
I would definitely recommend The Carpet Cellar!Written November 19, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It gave us a completely different perspective of Old Delhi as Raj explained how the area functioned. It was a fascinating insight.
