Although our tour stopped here, we might not have picked it to see on our own. It was interesting though getting a glimpse into the life of people before. It is a nice little stop. Be forewarned if you have asthma though - the peat fire stays on in the blackhouse and it is VERY smoky inside, so if you have lung issues, you may want to skip or make your visit brief and stay in the fresh air outside the house.

Absolutely excellent wee museum. So interesting, and there are a few of the Lewis chessmen too. When we visited, there was an exhibition called Gathering Light. This had some incredible items, found by metal detectorists.
There is a nice wee cafe there too

Tiny universe of tranquility, Jane Harlington, a talented artist, welcomes all to this treasure trove with open arms. The gardens are a haven of contemplation, the Alladins cave of her studio, which showcases her and local friends work, a breathing space and inspiration. Always something different, except the warm loving welcome which awaits everyone.

Multi-purpose venue run by friendly staff. Very disappointed to find this arts centre has stopped serving local beers, not even the bottled Isle of Skye beers they used to serve. Please promote local products.

Great walk out to the observatory which is a super shed/ building. We suppose this might be a one star review for some if they don't get lucky. For us five stars. We did see the pair for a few minutes. If only we had binoculars....but even with the naked eye the golden eagles were most impressive.

Final day on the island and local to our lovely house. So wanted something convenient and local. This place deserves all the 5 star reviews. The lunch was fantastic. And the cakes were MASSIVE. The staff were very attentive too. Basically faultless.

My wife and I visited the gallery and had a wonderful visit enhanced by a great discussion with Nikolai one of the two gallery owners. Fabulous to see such a passionate approach to the work of Nikolai and his wife Beka and understand their approach to the ceramics, painting and photography. Additionally the way they have repurposed this old church for their gallery- very inspiring.

This little museum is off the beaten path but worth the drive! We met a lovely man working at the museum with great information and tales of the area and history. We had intended on seeing one of the beaches near the museum but he suggested Reef Beach a bit farther 10-15min away, it takes you along some magnificent scenery and along a loop. It was breathtaking. Thanks to him for the suggestion.

Margarita has opened again and it was a delight to make an appointment to view her huge range of work; there really is something for everyone here, and our teenage son was impressed with the variety of media, subject and style. She is charming and her gallery is intimate and cosy. We bought a Japanese woodcut of St Kilda. We’ll treasure it.

A great venue for browse - we popped in on our way to the beach and cannot rate it highly enough. Dog friendly shop and fabulous artwork/photos to browse. A lovely style, ended up buying a piece to post home! Could have bought more- still might in the future. Definitely worth visiting!

Don’t be fooled by the small size of this gallery; it is absolutely packed with a variety of works of art in different media - prints, paintings, wildlife photographs, jewellery, small scale sculpture etc by various different artists. The proprietress is friendly and knowledgeable. Not only did she tell us about various pieces we were considering, but made sure we realised that there were seals in the bay.
