With dog in tow, we spent a few glorious hours on this spectacular beach... which is rated one of Ireland's best. You'll find a vast expanse of white sand and dreamy turquoise waters and little else... just perfect. Without a doubt this was a highlight of our trip to the west coast of Ireland.

Beautiful handmade pottery. Small family owned and operated. We bought a number of pieces and the quality and price were outstanding!

We were a bunch of 5 ladies, average age 65, and we had the most fun ever with Ciara. She is a super instructor and we had a ball from start to finish. None of us had any experience but that wasn't an issue, her instructions were clear and we kayaked like pros. Almost.

We visited Gurteen Beach whilst staying in Ireland.

On the plus side, this is a really pleasant beach - definitely one of the nicest in the area - which makes for a great walk. We took a stroll along it and the views along it are lovely. If you walk over the sand dunes, there are parts of the beach which seriously do look like they could be a screensaver, if you know what I mean!

Also, we found the beach to be relatively clean and tidy, so no issues there. There were a number of people sunbathing and eating picnics, so this place makes a great, clean spot for a such an activity.

There is also ample parking at this place and the spaces are not too tight.

There are one or two slight drawbacks, however, that you may wish to bear in mind. First, some parts of the beach have jellyfish on them so be careful if you're walking around.

Second, I was very disappointed to learn that there are no proper toilets here. The only toilets are portaloos which made me think I was at Glastonbury or some dreadful concert place! Unusually, these were quite clean (I think) although the toilet flush was broken in the left-hand toilet as I couldn't get this to work.

Also, if you're planning on getting here by car, please note that you have to come down lots of windy lanes. A lot of the drivers, particularly in Roundstone village (which you drive through) are extremely inconsiderate and try to overtake you when you're giving way to oncoming traffic, so it maybe a better option to get the bus.

Overall, I would definitely recommend a visit to this lovely beach.

A return visit to Roundstone Music with a group of 10 American adults. The place never disappoints. Malachy Kerans' wealth of knowledge about the bodhran drum is the best. Fun to have a go at it. Helped ourselves to tea/coffee and delicious homemade biscuits. Lots of shopping opportunities, from high end stuff to little trinkets.

This wee pub was really busy and had a lovely atmosphere. Plenty of food and drink being served. We got squeezed in without a reservation and they did a super job serving us quickly and efficiently. Staff were helpful and came back a couple of times to check we had everything. Food was good without being awesome.

Great experience with Damien. From the first phonecall booking the trip to getting off the boat Damien was so professional and courteous. He also had all the knowledge of the area and our kids loved seeing the lobsters and how the boat operated. Simply a must if your in Roundstone
