What travelers are saying
- MurphymomChicagoChicago226 contributionsGreat selection of artisans, definitely stop at Studio 3 Don Knapp and Daniel’s coffee while here. Don’s work is beautiful, you can color your own magnets here too and he tells great stories about his work. Reasonably priced.Written July 27, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- MrsBabooSurrey6 contributionsWe were lucky enough to visit during the international exhibition in October. Not only was it free to enter but the paintings were fresh, modern, beautiful and interesting. The staff were friendly and chatted to us about the watercolours and artists. They even have a public vote for your favourite painting. We liked this gallery much more that the slightly stuffy art museum in Balboa Park filled with old oil paintings.Written November 2, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Vera BTucson, AZ99 contributionsThe selection of Gorman creations ranges from small tiles to sculptures to enormous canvases or ptints. Something for every budget for the fan of this Navajo artist. One of four galleries in the country showing his work.Written August 28, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Vince BAsheville, NC47 contributionsI guess Mr Simic lost his butt several years ago in Carmel Ca. He had beautiful pieces of Art, hell I spent over 100k with the gallery. How unfortunate. It’s gone! Kinda makes me mad, but it is what it is. My X has the good pieces and I have several that I will be selling. All European Artist. I just don’t really want memories of my X, so the Art has to go. I did enjoy the Gallery with Judith & Russel. It probably was a sale with them, but it actually meant something to the both of us.Written May 5, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - rarumPhoenix, Arizona10 contributionsGreat gallery in an old restored building that alone is worth seeing. The Guru Shots exhibition was beautifully displayed! The hospitality of the opening night was nicely displayed and tasty. Wish they served a glass of wine to go with the tasty treats. Staff we very accommodating and informative.Written October 15, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- GlobalGypsy_13San Diego, CA2,689 contributionsFor a dose of modern art before the La Jolla location reopens in 2021, head downtown for some cutting edge art. In a space adjacent to and across the stree from the Santa Fe train station your modern art sensibilities will be expanded. The challenge may be to find nearby parking. On a Saturday afternoon we did find metered parking about 2 blocks away; there are also paid lots in the area.Written February 29, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Doug Arrington1 contributionMy wife and I had the pleasure of visiting Greg Lawson's beautiful gallery in La Jolla last week and enjoyed talking with him about photography in general and his work in particular. The work, enlarged imaged taken all over the world in various camera formats including 4X5, is breathtaking! Subject, composition, lighting, exposure are spot on! If you follow him, or better yet, get the opportunity to visit one of his galleries, you'll be in for a rare treat. Add to that his warm, friendly disposition and all your senses will be rewarded! His image of the Taj Mahal was taken in the early morning while hand holding a 4X5 field camera (tripods weren't allowed), and it's spectacular. As is an image he titled Armageddon showing an incredible cloud formation. In fact, I was mesmerized by every displayed image which, given my critical photographer's eye, is quite unusual! I certainly look forward to visiting again whenever we're in the area!Written November 3, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The sculpture is spread around the hospital campus. The pieces farthest from the entrance are next to the building at 9850 Genesee Avenue. Most of the sculpture is around the main hospital building at 9888 Genesee. There's more next to parking garage D, which is a good central place to park to see the sculpture. Parking there is free for half an hour; up to three hours costs $4.
This is a great place to see some art if art museums are closed. To give you an idea of what's there, I'll post a number of photos.Written June 28, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. From my point of view, I thought it was just okay. Not worth the price. There are 13 exhibits which seemed like a more abstract, artistic version of what I would find at the Exploratorium in San Francisco. Some of the exhibits are interactive so that made it more engaging and unique. However, nothing wow'ed me. Even the Floor exhibit which people seemed to like was just okay. I would have rather sat in a back massage chair with the back rollers.
Just know that for all you young people out there who are looking for a photo op for your social media accounts, there aren't many. I think that's why my son was disappointed. He wanted to leave earlier when we were 10th in line for the Virtual Reality but I wanted to get my money's worth.
The wait for the VR was very long. When we were 10th in line, it took us another 40 minutes before we got to do the exhibit. And honestly, it was just okay. They ask you 3 questions that you can provide your answer to. For me I enjoyed the questions because they are life reflective and I liked to contribute. However, it was a little confusing how to use those devices to contribute your responses and move on to the next question. I answered two of the questions then was kicked out of the system. Maybe they didn't like my responses? The guy offered to put me back in so I could finish but I had enough by then and noticed that my son was done and had texted me to hurry. He didn't like the VR and said his device wasn't working well. I liked the format of the "Confessions"exhibit better. Same idea but you write your responses and can read what other people wrote. However, this VR format allows you to hear others' responses which brings a different experience. Not really worth the wait.
I know Wonderspaces is about engaging your senses and making interactive exhibits. Most of this year's exhibits relied on your auditory sense and a little on your tactile as well. I think what made Wonderspaces popular in the previous years is the visual stimulation which was not highlighted this year.Written June 29, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
