We visited the church on a morning cycling trip from Aeroskobing. It is clear the building which dates from the 13th century is lovingly maintained. It is quite small, and a visit only takes a few minutes but don’t miss a couple a little quirks, one near the alter which has a self-portrait of the artist who originally painted the church, the other if you look up when seated in the third pew on the left that used to house a rope tied to a bell. During medieval times, the ringing bell would call those too ill or contagious to be allowed into church to take communion. This was distributed through two square hatches near the alter which can still be seen.
There is a toilet in the grounds of the church.

The tour is given in English on Wednesdays. Since one of our two nights in Aeroskobing was a Wednesday, we decided to participate in this tour. It was delightful! We learned a lot about the history of the town, the buildings, the culture and customs of the folks who lived in Aeroskobing in the past, what life is like there now. All of it was presented in a very entertaining way. The Nightwatchman is friendly and engaging. We loved his great sense of humor. We thought the tour would be about an hour long but it lasted for nearly 90 minutes on our night. That wasn't too long. On the contrary, he was so much fun to listen to, we'd have kept going! Highly recommended!

We visited this as part of a self-guided morning cycle tour from Aeroskobing. It is also accessible by car, there is a small car park on the ridge just before climbing down steps to the beach. At the car park, there are also toilets and adjacent to the steps, a few picnic tables with elevated views over the coast.
The beach itself is not the best and being on the Baltic side of the island it is much cooler and windier, but it is good for a short visit to view a different part of the island and a good stop off point on a tour of Aero.

Athough this museum is not opened for most of the year, one can still enjoy one of the most hobbit looking half-timbered houses from the outside. At the same time, a stroll through the streets of Aeroskobing to appreciate the charm of other other half-timbered houses that give the town its unique look is well worth it.

This small museum in the delightful Danish village of AEroskobing, on the island of AEro, is dedicated to the life work of a man called Peter Jacobsen, who started making sailing ships in bottles as a young man in the late 1890s. He went on to make about 1700, including some in cigar boxes and all complete with scenery. The museum is in the former Poor House where Peter and his Scottish wife live for many years. It's a fascinating collection and although there may be finer examples elsewhere, his work is quite astonishing, with the detail and craftsmanship that went onto each one.

I wandered in on my own as I’d read about it. Its simple white facade and blue doors were simple and elegant. Inside the blue pews were each decorated with hand painted depictions of flowers. Like other Danish churches in seafaring communities, miniatures of ships hung from the ceiling. There are several hand painted pieces in the simple and elegant church that stood out compared to many other Danish churches around the country.

A beautiful square and a nice old town. The island of Ærø and the towns of Ærøskøbing and Marstal are definitely worth a visit.

This is a small museum which endeavors to tell the story of the town, and like many small local museums, got much of its inventory from donations of "old things" from locals.

Unfortunately, none of the small museums we visited in Denmark provide interpretation or information in any language other than Danish. This museum was no different. We were provided with a map of the building and descriptions in each room that said things like "Farm implements" but not much beyond that. It seems a large oversight for a museum in a tourist town, especially in a country where so many speak English.

You can purchase just admission to this museum or they will sell you discounted admission to this one, and the ships in a bottle museum and one other as a bundle. Worth an hour of your time if you want to browse antique objects from the history of the town.

Its a place full of very nice craft and lots of history and culture. You get to try lots of cool stuff. You can forge, make copper jewlery and viking runes. There is also a firetruck and real fish you can touch. Upstairs you can mak knots and rope.
Very nice people and extremely cheap prizes.
If you have kids its a MUST.

We stopped by where one of our party's ancestors was baptized 3 generations ago. The church is charming and well taken care of. It had a nice feel to it. Happy we make the stop.
