What travelers are saying
- DelieseWoodbridge, VA19 contributionsWe thoroughly enjoyed our tour and learning about the process of making Calvados. The experience is interactive and is offered in English and French. The tour is concluded by a tasting that is very generous. We left with several purchases and will never forget our special time at Pere Magloire. Definitely put this on your “must do” list when visiting Normandy.Written December 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Natasha B1 contributionWe had the best tour, tasting and picnic lunch at Calvados Christian Drouin. The tour of the distillery was well organized with an incredible English speaking guide and the tasting was so generous (you get to try everything from a selection of Calvados to cider, apple juice, gins and pommeau). We booked (you can email the distillery at least a day ahead) a picnic lunch following our tasting which came packed with local cheeses, rillette, baguette, madeleines and a Normandy specialty rice pudding. Each picnic basket for 2 also comes with either a bottle of apple cider or juice - at 13.50 Euros per person, it was such great value and a wonderful way to enjoy the distillery with a picnic lunch under the apple trees. A must-do if you're touring Normandy. Also hats off to the team at Calvados Christian Drouin who were so quick in responding to my emails when I booked the picnic lunch and tasting a few weeks prior.Written September 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TriskellionOnchan, UK251 contributionsA lovely church to visit, was severely damaged in 1944 and was rebuilt to the same plan. Really nice inside and out and some of the pictures you can see show just how much work had to be done to restore it? Right in the centre of town so you can't miss it.Written October 2, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - thehazelwoodLondon157 contributionsWell worth its modest entry price to see whatever changing exhibition might be on because it will be housed a stunning historical building worth the entry fee alone.
Intriguing art library on the first floor. You can rent artwork for your home. Obviously not very useful to visitors passing through but an intriguing concept and some nice art to browse through.Written August 9, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. But don’t expect much more than pretty locations. There isn’t a community of artists, or museums, etc., just some pretty streetsWritten July 28, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MissSunshine1 contributionWe booked a canoeing activity for a hen do and having done a few water sports activities in the past, this one was by far very disappointing. No security, no instructions, no emergency plan i.e. if someone falls in the water - what do you do as a beginner? Basic canoeing instructions? Absolutely NOTHING.
We had lost two friends in the water, absolutely zero concern from the staff members. It's quite worrying to think that if something had happened to you, they would not come to help. The lady at the reception couldn't care less about our safety, one of the men who worked there was too worried for his equipment than the safety of the girls we lost in the water.
The river IS quite dangerous, they recommend it for kids but unless you want to drown your kid in there, please avoid this place!Written June 28, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is terribly underrated town, of charming little streets and incredible little shops! And I never drive through without stopping at Annabelle's shop - not since she won the prize of the "best Young Cheese vendor of France" - thank God for those french competitions, that is how you learn who to search for and how to reward these passionate artisans! Not only Annabelle knows how to stock and present the best possible cheeses, but she can give valuable advise and ample information on each one of them! The shop looks like an El Dorado of cheeses, but she also always makes the most amazing "presentation" table of cheeses related to the season, some region of France or even some event - like Tour de France when she was setting up cheeses from exact region where the tour passed on THAT day and she would even make cheese mountains with little bikes on them, when the Tour went through alps! Rare find of amazing talent. You better believe me - I am a tour guide in Normandy :)Written February 1, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
