What travelers are saying
- 831adaMadrid, Spain40 contributionsLa bola el Mundo, or the Alto de Guarramillas, at 2257 meters above sea level, is a spectacular mountain top with amazing all around 360 degree view of the surrounding national parks including the Barranca valley, Navacerrada, Peñalara peak and the Segovia plain to the west.
During the winter months it is a working ski center - Puerto de Navacerrada - with hard to get parking spots, the rest of the year it is a beautiful hiking location.
At this height, you often find yourselves above the eagles, whom you can see cruising around you, including the rare and cherished Royal or Iberian (white headed) Eagle.
The curiosity have to be the radio & TV antennas atop the mountain, they look like the red and white rockets from the Tin Tin comic "Journey to the Moon" and were the first TV antennas installed in the country in 1959. The name of the mountain top comes from those first emission on the one Tv España 1 channel, with a view of the planet earth focusing on Spain and the antennas atop the mountain in the center of the peninsula.
This is a good destination for hikers and nature lovers with some stamina, it's a steep walk of an average 45 minutes to the top from The Puerto de Navacerrada. Please plan to arrive early as there is limited parking. There is no fountain anywhere on the mountain but you can count on the two bars by the parking lot upon your descent.Written September 23, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. My mom and I took the train from Madrid for our final day of our trip and had the best time with Ignacio. We were provided all necessary riding gear and two beautiful, well-mannered, well-taken care of horses. As experienced riders, we opted for the three hour ride and got to explore a variety of terrain and even had the opportunity to canter and gallop.Written April 23, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We did the “Circuito Deportivo” and “Circuito Canopy” and they were great, second one my favorite.Written June 8, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
