What travelers are saying
- Stephanie059Adelaide, Australia9 contributionsJust avoid touristic areas: they are expensive, specially restaurants. Back street restaurants are just as good as are cheaper hotels. Try the Jean Bart hotel in the 6th district close to the Luxembourg Gardens, great if you travel with children.Written March 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Steve FEllesmere Port, UK156 contributionsThe building is stunning they have blended the ex railway station into a fantastic space to house a stunning art collection.
As a Van Gogh fan the museum was great for me but the sheer volume of great paintings and sculpture makes it a great experience as a gallery.
We had the museum pass which made access easier and is highly recommended as it covers most of the best Paris galleries and museums including Versailles.
We got there early as it opened and were able to get a little time and space with our favourite paintings but unlike the crowds and jostling at the Louvre it was a nice atmosphere even when fully open.
Paris is currently going through a make over prior to hosting the Olympics in July so there is some work going on and some city sites and attractions are affected (though not this museum)Written March 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This place has everything! From every era of human kind, especially the western world, they have an exhibit or artifacts that represent that time. You can spend hours looking at paintings, sculptures, jewelry, etc. Make sure you reserve and early time slot or join a tour group before coming. Because if you don't, you'll wait in a long line to get in.Written March 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Olivia L10 contributionsIt was ok. Not much to ser since it’s still under reconstruction from the fire in 2019 but still a cool thing to see. Impressed with the building in general.Written March 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Elijah598Richmond, VA69 contributionsThis place was probably the most spectacular inner-city gardens I have seen. Jardins de Luxembourg was the name, and it apparently was an old castle/mansion whose owners donated the gardens to the City. (I did not know it at the time of our visit, but learned that the French Senate now uses the mansion as its seat.)
Green grass fields, flower-filled gardens, pathways, trees, tennis courts, sandboxes, merry-go-rounds, horse-back riding for kids, to name a few of the amenities. In the center was the mansion with the grounds fronting it - a huge fountain/pond, statues, and well-manicured lawns. While it did not seem crowded at all, there were probably thousands of visitors and children enjoying the park. Even though tired from the long walk, we had fun exploring many parts of the park. It even had a small-scale Statue of Liberty with a plaque noting the history of the statue and the gift to America.Written March 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - grainne187Ireland22 contributionsBeautiful monument and is deffinitley worth the visit
Be prepared for the climb and steps but there is trams at the bottom that go up and down and was €2.15 per trip! Bit pricey to be honest only on it for a minute or less.
I have visited the church before but I found it very pricey this time? Was nearly €40 so just heads up. It is worth it dont get me wrong but did find it priceyWritten March 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lenny HAuckland, New Zealand795 contributionsDefinitely a must do, whether you walk a large or small length of the river. Lots and lots to see (and do if you’d like a break from the walking).Written February 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Alice MBoston, MA57 contributionsThis is a gorgeous cathedral and has always been one of my favorites in Paris. However, with Notre Dame being closed, the lines to get in here have gotten out of control. You must buy a ticket in advance! If you did not and are reading this review standing in a long “no ticket line” then I have a tip for you! Go next door to the Conciergerie and buy a “combo ticket” for both attractions. Then you can go back to the Chapelle and enter straight away (or with whatever time slot is being allowed to go in). It’s a massive loop hole and worked like a charm for me. The Conciergerie is also a nice attraction and worth seeing as well so be sure to see both - especially if you paid for it!
That being said, once your ticket is checked for the Chapelle you still have to go through security which is a massive pain and is a different unavoidable line. Lots of attractions in Paris have intense security but something about this one is terribly inefficient and slow. It needs to be addressed by management.Written March 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Montmartre delivers!
Fabulous area to wander with lovely little streets, cafes and shops as well as some great sightseeing.
Has more of a village feel but is a busy little hub of activity. Perfect for a Paris stay.Written February 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
