This is the landmark of Rouen. Very impressive building with a very tall tower "flèche ". You really have to take the time to look at all the details to realize how amazing that building is. It was painted many times by the famous painter Claude Monet.

The past meets the present on that street. Located between the cathedral and place du vieux marché, this is the street to do while visiting the city. It's a mix of culture/ history and shopping.

This was an excellent old style art gallery. It featured classical art with a range of paintings and sculpture. I found the works of the Impressionists to be of particular interest. The gallery is located in a lovely old building. Well worth a visit.

Beautiful architecture, mixing history, shopping and bars/cafés/ restaurants.
Miraculously this is the only part of the City that didn't get bombed by the allies during WW2.

This is one of the landmarks of Rouen with the cathedral. Located in the heart of the city called Vieux Rouen. It's between the cathedral and the Vieux marché square where Joan of arc was burnt by the English.

A fascinating and different sort of museum housed in an old church, this Musee features a wide collection of iron things from long ago. The intricate and detailed iron work on locks, ornaments etc. is quite amazing. Worth a visit.

This place was definitely well worth a stop. It was very well done and very informative. The tower at the top that allowed a 360 degree view of Rouen was really beautiful as well. We went in February and we were nearly the only people there. Loved it.

You really have to know how to get there. It's used by an art school, as well as some new little cafés.
If you look carefully at the architecture, the wood is carved with skulls on it.

Visited on Monday 11th September 2023. Travelling from Le Harve we took our second organised excursion from the ship in the form of an unguided coach trip to Rouen. The city has about 2,000 half-timbered houses and that includes ones in this square. We didn't note any details about it being the location where Joan of Arc was burned alive but that's the negative of taking an unguided tour or reading up on the City in advance.

One of the oldest streets of Rouen with its traditional building, some of them, if you look carefully, are leaning. Paved street for pedestrians only. A must do.

Must see historical street once the home to textile manufacture / draperies. The Robec stream / river runs adjacent (Old Norse raudh, red and bekkr, stream) and is the reason for the cloth industry being located there.
Lots of nice cafe bar restaurant venues here.

You really need to look at the details carefully to really enjoy that amazing piece of work. Located in the heart of the city.
