- Neil2 contributionsWow, what can I say.
The club pro Mike was kind enough to give me the reciprocal rate as a result of my home course being closed.
I was first out that morning and found the course to be immaculate, from the well raked bunkers, to the greens which were so smooth, particularly at this time of year.
The course itself is a really true test with a broad variety of holes and very testing par 3’s in particular.
All of the members and staff in the clubhouse were incredibly friendly and welcoming.
I managed a scratch 79 off the whites and even managed to doink one off the clubhouse at the last.
A top club and one I would highly recommend.Written October 18, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Very clean, tidy and well kept with Christmas decorations nicely displayed. If you love horses this is the place to visit.Written December 18, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Archibald James H2 contributionsWent to the cafe, excellent service, even got a free drink. Wifi is a bit spotty, but the cafe is amazing. Would recommend for families, as there are loads of sweets and drinks for kids after a fun time doing the activities. 4/5Written January 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - alibatty🦇Dundee, UK5,031 contributionsWell, these ancient people certainly chose their stone circle sites with an eye for a panoramic view. From the car park it’s only a 5 minute walk up a hill to the stones, ( but will take longer if you stop to admire the surrounding green & fertile countryside.)
The stones are a bit ramshackle, and not particularly dramatic, bar the recumbent large whinstone flanked by 2 tall ones. It’s believed that around 4,500 years ago this was used as a funeral pyre, as there’s a charcoal rich pit under the recumbent stone. It’s also thought these monuments could’ve also been used for astronomical observation, and religious rituals - but we can only guess at that, and enjoy the mystery.Written July 23, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. She had a fantastic time, with some work with the horses and other animals in the morning and lots of riding on wonderful horses in the afternoons. Dominique made her feel so welcome and she loved the whole experience - high praise from a teenager! I know she is already planning how she can go back again!Written February 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - alibatty🦇Dundee, UK5,031 contributionsOn the hunt for Pictish stones - and this church flagged up with a couple. It’s deep in rural countryside, and the church itself is very modest & unassuming. The first stone is to be found just inside the gate in the kirkyard , and due to ageing it’s difficult to see the markings. It’s carved on both sides - a cross of interlaced network on one, and on the reverse is a horse and rider. It’s thought this stone is from the 7th/8th century.
Upon pushing open the beautiful wooden door 🚪 of the church that had Pictish symbols engraved on it, lights automatically came on, and revealed a space with interior stained glass windows, artwork, and religious prose - and of course another Pictish stone. It was really quite moving. Sat for a little bit in a pleasantly cool carved stone seat, and had a moment’s reflection. Would definitely recommend a visit for a totally unexpected experience.Written July 24, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The Kirk is ancient and the original door arch is an interesting and historic feature. Worth dropping in past if you’re driving through the village.Written August 7, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - alibatty🦇Dundee, UK5,031 contributionsThis is a very pretty and extremely peaceful little inland Loch than I’d never heard of before. It popped up on Google so we decided to explore. There’s really not much in the way of parking , so you just have to squeeze in off the road where you can. It’s only 1.33 kilometres long, with a circular route around it, and you can see the rather fetching log cabin on the shore that King George V had built for Queen Mary - hence why this loch is also known as The Queen’s Loch. It probably won’t take more than half an hour to walk around it, but you get a changing perspective en-route in the shaded woodland glades, accompanied by much birdsong. It’s beautifully unspoiled, and a natural delight.Written May 7, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
