This is really an unmissable place. It's a real time capsule of Czechia as it was 100 years ago. Don't miss it!

This town is a must-see location if you are interested in local culture and history. The historical castle and the city center remains almost intact, since the establishment of the town. It is located close to the Austrian border of Czech Republic and can be visited from both sides. The river and the surrounding mountains also create a nice scenic atmosphere. You may plan to spend half day walking around the streets and enjoying local cafes.

You have to visit this place when you have the chance. It’s lovely experience, you can walk through the whole house by yourself just with an audio guide. We paid a little extra money and enjoyed being actually photographed in the historic atelier and in the costumes. Definitely recommend that too. Big thank you to the people there, especially the young guy at the counter. He was really sweet and professional!

Located very close to the main square, this is a small church that is worth visiting - not to mention there is no entry fee.
The outside is probably worth a few photos (if you find a moment without other tourists), whilst the inside is interesting. Not the prettiest of churches in the Czech Republic but worth spending a few minutes to take in.

We went to Cesky Krumlov for the day with a private guide who actually took us into the town via “the back door”….through the Castle Gardens. What a wonderful way to start our visit. Despite the terrible drought, the gardens were lush, flowering and full of color. The fountains were all blasting away and the breeze through the trees was delightful. When we exited, we obviously walked back through the garden, which offered up a second opportunity to take in their beauty before getting on the road for a drive back to Prague. (Also, there was no parking problems and little to no traffic…brilliant!!). Definitely enjoyed the gardens and would visit them again if the opportunity presented itself.

A very well curated art gallery. Staring at the top of the amazing building is the very informative Egon Schiele exhibition which is a gem. The Ivana Lomova exhibition is a must see and a fascinating insight into the ordinary made beautiful. In contrast is the energetic bright and challenging work of Janz Franz on the ground floor which again has been well curated. The staff were attentive, informative and friendly. Well worth the entrance fee.

The latran houses along the banks of the river in Cesky Krumlov are definitely worth a visit. Once factories, mills and houses for upclass nobles, they’re now boutique shops, restaurants and hotels….but they still have kept their overall charm. The streets are cobbled, the river is rushing past and even the old water wheel is turning. Definitely a fun way to enjoy the afternoon after a visit to the castle.

Very beautiful ballroom , also called the Masquerade hall. It is included in the Route 1 tour. The image of the author of the paintings is said to be the one drinking coffee by the window.

We started in central Cesky Krumlov and walked uphill to the train station. From there it’s a moderately uphill climb on an asphalt road to the trailhead at the end of the road. Fairly straightforward to follow the green/white markings. At the top you have obstructed views so you have to pay to go up the tower for the best views. About 6 miles to the top. We decided to continue on to Holubov from Klet. Follow the rough trail that goes under the chairlift until you reach an asphalt trail that takes you down into the valley. Continue until you arrive at Holubov and work your way to the train station. There are close by cafes to kill time as you wait for the train. Eventually, board train for trip back to Cesky Krumlov. A perfect day trip!

We just loved it: a unique story of the moldavite mineral told in a modern and enjoyable exposition. We learned a lot, relaxed gazing at the green magical stones and had a lot of fun with the simulator and the kids game.

This year I have bought tickets for a couple of performances, The Hound of the Baskervilles, and Da Vinci. The ticket purchasing system has been simplified, and printed tickets are no longer needed, electronic tickets are scanned from your cell phone. Be aware, that even on a rainy day, you must show up and wait till official decision is made to cancel the performance. We drove 35 minutes in absolute torrential rain, with thunder and lightning, waited with a crowd of people till 9.30 pm, at which time the rain has subsided and an official decision was announced, the after a delay of 15 minutes, the performance will start. Surprise! We had blankets, warm clothes and rain ponchos, so we were able to sit on the wet seats fairly comfortably, and amazingly, the rain stayed away. As far as the Hound of the Baskervilles story - not the best, few jokes were attempted, no music, fairly boring. I am hoping Da Vinci will be more entertaining. But the castle grounds theater setting is just spectacular.
