- Jaffer R7 contributionsAbsolutely amazing and authentic place. I wish I knew this place beforehand and would have come here every month if I could . Very lovely place1Written March 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- MissHK2009Hong Kong, China3,914 contributionsI had a one-day excursion on my own from Sophia by taking the coach from Central Bus Station (on metro line 2) at 8:10am then return ticket at 4:10pm. Each way exactly 2 hrs without traffic jam on my day.
So I had plenty of time to explore Plovdiv especially this theatre. It's spectacular and grand, I could sit for an hour there. And of course, many pictures. Other scenic spots in Plovdiv are just so so to me. I found not that easy to reach this theatre, need some uphill walks on uneven cobblestone path and the sign is not too obvious to me.
Better buy the bus tickets in advance as the way back to Sophia could be full. Don't mix up the two bus stations in Plovdiv as the other one is only "Serdika" bus station. You have to go to the "Central" bus station to go back to Sophia.Written February 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. this is a statute of a real soldier that was picked to represent all the young/old men and women that never made it home to their families... giving up their lives in the name of the other human beings...
it's rare nowadays to see people being able to express their gratitude. Bulgarians set an example for many other nations...Written April 3, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A long hike only to peek through the fence. It is, however, breathtaking.Written September 10, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MrMrsHappyRLiverpool, UK1,223 contributionsWonderful town centre in Plovdiv that blends from the Old Town to the New Town. There are lots of nice restaurants, cafes, bars, shops. - Nick FGreece124 contributionsThis is the oldest church in the city. It stands on the site of the massacre of 40 Christians of Plovdiv, committed in 304 under the Emperor Diocletian. Of course, now we see a modern church built in 1832. The most remarkable part of it is the bell tower, consisting of five tiers. Surrounded by a high stone wall, the Church of Saints Constantine and Elena is considered the most beautiful in Plovdiv. The murals in the church were made by the famous Bulgarian artist and icon painter Zachary Hristov Zograf (1810-1853). This is a monument of religion, history and culture of the city of Plovdiv, which must be seen with your own eyes.Written February 12, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Graham P77 contributionsFabulous small early Chritian baptistery, with beautiful mosaics, a charming baptismal basin and some lovingly displayed artefacts. Has an intimate feel which induces a sense of contact with the past people for whom this structure and its purpose was so special. Well worth the minor trek alongside a busy road to get there.Written July 20, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MrMrsHappyRLiverpool, UK1,223 contributionsBeautiful building near the centre of the new town that is a Mosque. It was built in the 13th century. There is a large cafe/restaurant on the side which plays traditional music. Also nice to hear the prayer song from the Mosque.Written May 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Misty WMarietta, GA176 contributionsWe stayed right next door to this great little gallery during our trip to Plovdiv. Some of the art is for sale, some of it is museum quality work that is on permanent display. The staff was very nice and the time you'll spend here is well worth the small price to pay to view the art.Written November 3, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
