It is an interesting old tower and the steps vary considerably as one climbs - from old circular stone staircase to modern wooden one. One section is triangles placed at angles and I found that quite difficult to navigate. The view is very good at the top although I wasn't all that familiar with the city.

This art museum is the treasur of an idea of two providential people: the painter Hollosi Simon who had the idea of setting up a summer painting school and the mayor of Baia Mare at that time Thurman which, together with the local concil they decided, on May 5th, 1896, to finance a painters' colony.
Over the time the painting school of Baia Mare has been the house of some important art celebrities from Romania and Hungary, and also from entire Europe. The museum owns exceptional valuble paintings belonging to all those who have passed here in 120 years. With the museum guide you can find the story of each painting and the destiny of its artist. For example the two Jewish Hungarian painters: Mund Hugo and Jandi David, side by side in the galery, first one emigrated and saved himself but the second one stayed behind and died in Holocaust.
The symbols of each painting could be find in the characters of the museum collections, as in the extraordinary triptych of Tibor Boromisza, in wich the Adoration of the Magicians took place in Baia Mare, and the figure of Jesus is a self portrait.

This mall is pretty new, and has high standards, just like any shopping mall in a capital city. Parking is also very organized.

It is a nice museum (although very small and you are not allowed to take photographs). The first floor covers some of the house and local history. The second floor has more of the items regarding Petofi Sandor. The first floor has some captions of the exhibits in English. There are none on the second floor. Altogether, it probably won't take you 30 minutes to go through the museum and grounds. It is very pretty with a nice view overlooking the valley to the north.

In Baia Mare in the historical center (did not get listed here on TA ) you will find another square that is interesting - it is the "Cetatii/Fortress" Square.
It is a place of historical significance - Baia Mare is a city from the 1300 so... - , here you can find the cities symbol , the St. Stephen tower (construction began during the reign John Hunyadi - Athleta Christi and finished by his son Mathias Corvinus), the Holy Trinity Catholic church(300 years old) , etc.
Overall is a interesting place , you can have a view on the vestiges of the the past ages through the showcases that show you the underground of the square and the panels posted that give you details on what is where.
A quiet place , nice for a stroll through and learning about the history of the city.
    I hope you'll enjoy it ...

In the Cetatii Square in Baia Mare you shall find the Holy Trinity church.
It is a catholic church - in the past belonging to the Jesuit friars - built in 1718 , so it is more than 300 years old.
Visiting is free of charge - and you can visit it if it is open, so try to get some information on the opening hours if you want to get inside - again like with every church donations are welcome.
The building is impressive from the outside , it is built in baroque style and for those of you who are interested in architecture it can be very interesting. Inside, the decorations are beautiful and well maintained, beautiful frescoes are to be found inside (now since they were preparing for service I was not able to get to the choir to see the organ that is there - next time maybe).
So if you decide on visiting just follow the 3 simple rules: dress appropriately , don't disturb service and show respect regardless if you are religious or not.
If you are in the vicinity it is worth seeing this landmark of Baia Mare, that's certain.

Not at all as I expected, very few items on display and no proper guide or history brochures on spot.
