201 Hotel emerges as a practical choice for budget-conscious travelers, offering basic yet satisfactory amenities, including convenient parking and a decent breakfast. While some guests praise the cleanliness and comfortable beds, others find the rooms lacking in amenities and have had varied experiences with room cleanliness. The hotel's location receives mixed reviews, appreciated by those seeking proximity to transport but criticized for its industrial surroundings. Service quality at the hotel appears inconsistent, though many commend the friendly staff.

My husband and I stayed here last minute. It was a nice little hotel, met our needs. This hotel was in a pretty good location. The walls were pretty thin - listened to a couple next door into the evening and then early the next am. The concierge was very friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was continental but had lots of variety. There was construction going on and that would have been nice to know when booking the location - was not going on after hours but noticeable. Did not locate USB ports in our room to charge devices so we used power.

The bed is very uncomfortable. The bathroom and halls have a musty smell after you shower. The wifi is slow. There is no refrigerator. It's a very basic hotel..nothing special at all. I wouldn't recommend. There are better hotels in iceland.

Rooms are allright, breakfast was below normal, big high five for Omar in the desk to help us find transport to airport. It is far from centrum. Transport ti airport cost about 70 € for two adults. Hotel quality not very good. There was some construction noise .

Dirty. Basic and not a good Location as it is 20 mins drive to town. Do not think this is local as people keep staying! Few pictures speak for themselves. Staff were blunt, not friendly at all. From pillows, bedding, lights, floors, walls and radiators, it was all dirty!! Building work outside our room on the inside and outside of our room in the hotel. No notice beforehand of this or even at check in. Absolutely disgusting and a joke. Mattress was around 1.5 inches think. So was a topper not a mattress! Under this it was the divan, no mattress, don't believe their responses to others who have had the same complaint! Just a shambles. The rest of the hotels we visited touring the whole of Iceland where unreal. This was a shock as it was out last two night stay before leaving too so very disappointed. Wouldn't recommend to even a cockroach. Avoid!!

Stayed here as a family in 2 rooms for 3 nights. The hotel is a bit characterless approx. 15 minutes from Central Reykjavik if you have a car, and had the feeling of a budget hotel / former office building converted into a hotel. The rooms were clean, but there was next to no storage space and only a small area to hang clothes. The beds were not that good with a very thin mattress on a sprung bed, and a bed sheet which was only just big enough for the bed so it often left an exposed mattress, so not good. As you would expect in Iceland the heating and hot water was plentiful. Breakfast was OK, not particularly extensive but I suppose the range is understandable given this is a cheaper hotel and food is very expensive in Iceland. Staff were ok, not particularly friendly, but I get the impression this is just Icelandic behaviour rather than anything particular about this hotel? The hotel is in a more office / residential area, but there was at least a few restaurants within 10 minutes walk, and we did have a very nice (fast food) meal at Mandi Kopavogur about 8 minute walk away. I would stay here for one night or if on a tight budget but would look to book somewhere else if visiting Reykjavik in future as first choice.

Dear DarrenHenman, thank you so much for taking for sharing your feedback here on Trip Advisor. We truly appreciate your insights and are delighted to hear that you chose to stay with us during your family trip here in Iceland. Fun fact: our hotel is actually a converted church, not a former office building, and we take great pride in preserving its unique history and atmosphere here 😊 While we're pleased to hear that you found our rooms clean and our amenities satisfactory, we're sorry to learn about the issues you encountered with the beds and storage space. I'm happy to inform you that we offer six room categories to choose from, and next time, we would be delighted to assist you in booking the best layout to ensure you have ample space. Regarding our complimentary, continental breakfast, we understand that our offerings may not be as extensive as some other hotels, but we aim to provide a satisfying start to the day for all our guests. As for the friendliness of our staff, we apologize if you did not receive the warm and welcoming service that we strive to offer. It's important to us that every guest feels valued and appreciated, and we will address this with our team to ensure that all guests are greeted with kindness and hospitality. Thank you again for choosing to stay with us, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future should your travels bring you back to Iceland. Warm regards, Júlía Björgvinsdóttir General Manager

The réceptionist was so kind and helped us with taxi and even with the itenary to the airport. Thank you again. Breakfast was nice also, rooms are clean and tidy. It is easier if you have a rented car but there is busses who run there from the city center.

Clean, no frills hotel. Served well for two night layover in Reykjavik. Need taxi to get into anywhere because roads are motorways and there isn’t much in walking distance to hotel. Concierge very helpful - calls taxis and available for questions. Everyone speaks English and happy to help. Lobby sells coffees and some drinks. Go to gas station for snacks. Breakfast available - basic, not indulgent but fresh. Bread, croissant, a cheese, a meat, cucumber and one day hard boiled eggs. Cereals and yogurt - apples one day. Juices. Cannot take extra for lunches. We booked return bus tickets to hotel while on flight into Keflavík. Bus goes from airport to a central hub and then shuttles you to hotel. Confusing but works. Need to book return and plan ahead.

Great stay we stayed here for the first and last night of our trip. The rooms are clean and very spacious . The staff are friendly and helpful and certainly speak great English. The breakfast is buffet style and is basic but very adequate. There are hot drinks and juices and cold food only . The food was toast , ham , cheese ,cold boiled eggs and cucumber. There was cereal and yogurt too. I’m gluten free but managed well. They did have some GF cereal. The breakfast area was clean and tidy. You preferably need a car to stay here as it’s a ten minute drive to Reykjavik. We would return . Thanks.

It was okay. The breakfast was great (but no hot food unless you count toast) and the room was clean and we had a huge bathroom. What I really didn't like were the light switches. They were unnecessarily complicated, you had to turn on a certain one to be able to turn the bathroom light on. Either the main light or the bed side lights would HAVE to turn on to be able to use the bathroom light, which meant that whenever I woke up in the middle of the night to use the toilet (which is at least twice...) I had to wake up my family too. And you couldn't turn off the bed side lights with the switch at the bed side, unless the correct switch by the front door was on, so we constantly had to go back and forth between the door and the bed to switch lights on and off.

Dear tracyxx11, thank you for your feedback. We appreciate your positive comments about the breakfast and the cleanliness of the room. However, I understand your frustration with the light switches, and I apologize for any inconvenience caused. I am so happy to inform you that, on your next visit, you only need to turn on the main switch once, and all the other lights should work as needed, including the bathroom light. We were very happy with our choice of 201. For a budget hotel it was good value. We had a family room with 3 single beds and a large ensuite and stayed 3 nights. Breakfast buffet was included and you could eat as much as you wanted: cereal, fruit, yoghurt, toast, ham, cheese, eggs, croissants, tea, coffee, juices. There is a coffee machine in reception where you can get free hot water. We bought milk and teabags, and had tea in our room this way. Location is outside of city centre but Reykjavik Excursions do a pick up service for their excursions, we found them well organised and reliable. They also run the Flybus airport transfer, which again ran smoothly. We used the local bus service to go to Perlan and found it relatively easy. Download Klappid app to buy tickets, plan routes, and bus stops nearby. We can recommend Italiano and Mandi restaurants which are both a few minutes walk from 201, also there's a large shopping centre about 10 mins walk away. There is a large car park if you have your own transport. The staff were very helpful both before we arrived (I messaged about accessing excursions and airport transfers) and in person. We cannot fault 201, as long as you understand you are not walking distance to Reykjavik centre. Thank you for a memorable visit to Iceland.
