B&B L'Emporio is very comfortable: room equipped with air conditioning and a rather large bathroom. Cleaning done every day and, if you want, daily change of towels. Huge breakfast buffet, served in the adjacent La Casa sul lago, in our case included in the price. My only complaint would be about the swimming pool, which is located in the aforementioned La Casa sul Lago (which is part of the same facility). La Casa sul Lago is practically a hostel which, from what I could understand, continually hosts hordes of teenagers not accompanied by their parents but supervised by a couple of adults. (A sort of summer camp). The problem is that when these kids decide to use the pool together, all the other guests might as well give up and leave. There are almost twenty of them and they take possession of the pool, the tables and structures without any education or respect. However, just to express my disappointment, I dived into the water and placed myself right in the middle of the pool making sure that it was not possible for them to continue their games (poolside diving, floating on mattresses, screaming, running, etc.). Yes, I was the grinch of the pool!

We spent three nights at B&B Emporio. We tried to book the nearby Casa sul Lago (someway managed by the same people) but the place was full so we were offered the B&B Emporio. Since our stay was managed by the staff of La Casa sul Lago, and we also dined there, I'm going to write a separate review for that place as well, and I will focus on the "sleeping" part in this B&B Emporio review. We slept in "La Camera Gialla" (the yellow room). It's a bit small, but it has nice decor. There is a private bathroom, a fridge and a terrace. The room and the bathroom were clean and well kept. Staff (by La Casa sul Lago) was awesome. We also met the manager of the B&B: he was very nice as well, and very willing to provide help and information. Breakfast was great, with gluten free options provided (one of us is on a gluten free diet). Our dog was accepted and welcome. Pricing was very reasonable: besides the two free nights (a gift box we received), we purchased an extra one for 50 €. I would definitely recommend this place. It is located in Torricella (just 100 meters from the Trasimento lake): Torricella isn't the prettiest of the towns on lake, but it's a handy base if you have a car. I also suspect it to be a fun place in high season (it was pretty deserted off-season, which was very relaxing however).

I'm a bit torn about my rating. On the one hand, the rooms were quite nice, the employee was friendly and helpful, and it was a good price. On the other hand, we had trouble finding the employee when we needed him, and found the location to be a bit mediocre. Part of the problem, I suspect, is that it wasn't really the right time of year for Lake Trasimeno. It's a place which clearly sees a lot of tourists some times of the year, although tourists were pretty scarce when we were there (we were the only people staying in the B&B for example). I suspect we missed out on a lot of the best of charm of the lake and that some of the service-related issues were directly related to the time of year we stayed. We showed up fairly late, and weren't able to find anyone to let us in to our room; we were given suggestions about where to find employees if no one was in, but no one was there either. They did give us a phone number, but without a European cell phone calling was a fair bit of trouble (although it did eventually work). I'm fairly sympathetic to the employee -- it's pretty hard to wait around for just 1 set of guests -- but on the other hand, we warned the owners at the time of the booking that we would be showing up late and didn't have a cell phone. When we found him, he was quite apologetic and upgraded our room. He also had a number of helpful recommendations for dinner and was clearly a very nice guy. The room itself (as previously mentioned, an upgrade over what we actually paid for) was quite nice -- large and with a nice bathroom. There was a lake-view, although it was over a parking lot and street. The bed was comfortable, and the room was kitschy but nice. There was even a fireplace. It was quiet, and we both slept very well -- maybe the best night of sleep I had on a 2-week trip. Because we were the only guests, they didn't serve breakfast (this was fully disclosed at the time we made our booking). On the whole, it's a very pleasant place, and I suspect the service is quite good when there are more guests around. The location is mediocre, but certainly not a minus. I wish I could give a higher overall rating.
