Myself and adult son stayed in the Royal for a Rugby weekend. The hotel was great. Its well positioned for anything and everything in Cardiff. Our room was pretty big, the beds comfy and the room had all the extras you might want like a safe, kettle with tea, coffee and hotchocolate. There was also a hair dryer and iron. The hotel its self was quiet despite it being a really busy weekend. Breakfasts were also very good with a wide selection which would cover anybodies needs. Staff were friendly and helpful. We drove there and the road to it were easy. Parking was also no problem and the hotel offers a massive discount if you use the NCP car park which is near-by I would stay again and would also recommend it.

Lovely hotel, everything it says it is. All the convenience and trappings of the usual chain hotels/rooms but done that little bit nicer, and for a competitive price. Breakfast was excellent, the room lovely and staff very friendly and helpful. Would def stay there any time visiting Cardiff. Discounted parking close by was a bonus as we needed the car this time but also close to the train station.

Excellent deal for 2 night stay, mid-week: booked superior room (which came at excellent price direct, and even with bottle of wine!) No parking, but heavily discounted NCP a 5 minute walk away. Room well appointed ( comfortable bed and sofa) spacious and quiet. Good choice of included breakfast. Location, location, location- ideal, easy walk to Castle, shops etc and we have never been so close to so many restaurants! Recommendations- Turkish Leszet (5 minutes) and Portuguese Ty Madera (2 minutes). Would certainly stay here again.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Hotel is so near to everything in the city centre. Breakfast was good, plenty of choice from gres fruit, cheese, cereal and of course, cooked, room even better. We had a twin room, which felt like we had our own little annex as it was down its own little corridor... lovely. Would definitely stay again when next in Cardiff.

Lovely big room and large bathroom. Comfy bed. Room had plenty of storage, a safe, iron and board and tea and coffee. It is quite a few storey's walk to the reception, however, there is a lift, you can utilise. Staff were helpful and friendly. Would stay again!

An absolute hidden gem - from the outside the hotel looks deceptively small, but once you get to the 2nd floor you appreciate just how large the hotel is. The reception staff were extremely efficient, and the rooms clean, tidy and (most importantly given its location in the city) sound-proofed. Bed was extremely comfortable, and the room was warm at all times. The only slight criticism (and it is very slight!) was the lack of vegan/vegetarian offerings for the cooked breakfast - while the staff were extremely proactive and knocked up a couple of vegetarian sausages for us, it would have been nice if there were other alternatives such as Quorn bacon and sausage available on request. However, we understand that this is not something that the hotel would need to cater for on a regular basis, and it did not detract from the great selection of food available at the breakfast servery. If you are looking for a great place to stay in the city centre then I heartily recommend this hotel; there is an NCP Car Park that is opened 24/7, and is full access controlled and monitored - the hotel provides a discount code which significantly reduces the cost of an overnight stay. All in all a great hotel, and a special thank you to the barman who was on on Saturday night who was happy to serve us despite the fact for most of the time my partner and I were the only ones in the bar!

Had a long weekend as it was a rugby match, hospitality provided by staff was excellent, Eva made us most welcome with her charm as did all the staff, bar staff although under pressure because of demands coped well to serve their patrons. Room was excellent as was attention to detail by support room service staff, overall we as a family group will give it a 10.
