Large Victorian villa within walking distance of town centre. Spotlessly clean and comfortable room and bed.Excellent modern bathroom. Small bar with excellent choice of drinks in residents’ sitting room.p Excellent breakfast freshly prepared. Pleasant owners operating a well run and welcoming establishment.

This B&B was clean, was close to town (short walk - no need to drive in) and had ample parking. Some amenities could be updated (like the hairdryer) but otherwise it was a great place for a one-night stopover in Pitlochry.

Stayed here for 2 nights at the end of June, good sized single room. View to the back of the property where i could watch red squirrels in the trees. Fantastic breakfast, lots to choose from, fruit, cereal, porridge etc and cooked breakfast too! Good location for public transport, plenty of parking space in the grounds too. Lovely friendly couple who run the place, very nice breakfast staff too. Great for walks, Black Spout and Ben Vrackie (which was just over a mile up the road) Would've been good to have a hair dryer and shampoo in the room though. Lots of info leaflets.

Firstly, what a fantastic place Pitlochry is, so much to remember from our visit, the dam, the salmon ladder, the walks etc. Hotel,in its own grounds, lovely gardens. We had the most enormous room which was well equipped. Window open at night helped us hear the local owl. Public areas very stylish, quite a formal environment and style about the hotel, quaintly old fashioned. Nice residents lounge where pre dinner drinks and coffee can be taken after dinner. Breakfast and dinner very personalised service, quite formal but nice for a couple of nights. About ten minutes walk to centre of Pitlochry. Would recommend this hotel

We happened on the Birchwood when we decided to spend the night in Pitlochry. This is a converted Victorian house just up the hill from the main road. It was very quiet. The twin room on the 2nd floor was very comfortable. The hotel had just opened a few days before we arrived and that probably accounted for the fact that only one other couple stayed at the same time. It left the dining room quite hushed. No fault at all of the owners who were friendly and attentive. It's just that it felt like we were dining in a deserted Victorian mansion. This place has the feel of a guesthouse rather than a hotel. The owners are onsite and run the place themselves. Very clean. Good shower, plenty of towels, windows open (always an important criteria for me.). Wi-fi signal was strong enough in our room to accomplish what we needed to do.

I'm not sure how we found you, but I'm so glad we did. From our first meeting at reception to John's teasing about my over cooked salmon (as I requested) everything was charming and gracious. A lovely old home converted to a quiet, comfortable hotel. The hotel is surrounded by lovely gardens and trees which make you think you're well out into the country instead of just minutes from the town. And the meals! Fabulous!!

Have just spent another week at the Birchwood Hotel, Pitlochry. As usual the service was excellent. Viv and John go out of their way to make one's visit comfortable. They take into account that we all grow older and adjust the service they offer. They helped with a problem I had with my car. Another memorable stay with the Holmyard's.

This hotel is more like a big old style guest house with very personal service provided by the owners. The location is excellent in a quiet garden, up a hill off the main road close to the centre of Pitlochry. The twin bedroom was large, comfortable and clean. There were tea and coffee making facilities and a TV but no 'frills' s.a. little shampoos, soap, tissues etc. (Didn't bother me as I brought my own toiletries). It was very peaceful at night and in the morning and I slept very well. There wasn't much of a view and I would have preferred a room looking out to the garden. The breakfast was all served by the host (no buffet) and was very fresh and tasty.

This was my second time in Pitlochry before staying in a self catering cottage the first time. When we entered the lovely decorated reception it felt warm and very welcoming, Viv and John were very friendly and very helpful throughout our stay at the hotel, with Viv cooking the breakfast and dinner each day to order which was delicious and using the best and very local produce they use. When John made each morning a great welcome in to breakfast serving us high quality of food and beverages. The few nights we stayed we dined in the restaurant having the menu planned weekly changing to what's in season. After breakfast ordering dinner what we would like to have in the evening which was very delicious meal. John and Viv are the most friendly and make the time spending at the hotel a very nice experience to come back and I will be coming back. As well the bedroom was freshly cleaned every day the tea and coffee station was stocked up everyday the room the right amount of room with a spacious and clean ensuite. The attention to detail was excellent though out our stay. Wonderful grounds with the local wildlife in the garden. When enjoying breakfast seeing the wildlife through the window was very nice to see. And only a few minutes walk in to Pitlochry the best place to stay. The lounge was very nice and spacious with a mini bar stocked full of beverages. A very Big Thank You to Viv and John for making our trip special and friendly.

Been there three times and would go back again if I was in the area. The combination of John's quiet, efficient, good humoured hospitality and Viva superb cooking is a real winner. The hotel is in a quiet location within easy walking distance of the town centre.
