Very warm rooms due to no airconditioning. To cool down in the night we had to sleep with open windows which resembled in a noisy night due to the city night life. Reception was not really friendly at checkin. Breakfastroom was very small and overcrowded with just one person to service all people.

Good location with underground parking next door - free between 7pm and 9am. Room too hot without opening window, then too loud at night through street activities below. Breakfast was good selection on floor 1 although room a bit cramped. Room absolutely fine as was shower.

Not the best location, not the biggest rooms, not the best beds but near.the centre of Caen, a decent breakfast and helpful staff. The underground car park is handy as you can keep dry getting to the hotel after parking.

Unable to get sleep because a club/shots bar is right across the street and the windows hardly keep any noise out.
Reception was unfriendly and not helpfull to get one of the (few) rooms that are not on the noisy street.

Room was hot and damp even on 20 degree days (no airco, no ventilation?) Shower not very clean (mould on the joints).

Breakfast is overcrowded and many things run out quickly and are not refilled.

No hotel parking or parking discount available.

Try to find ANY other hotel unless you can be sure to get a room on the inside (most rooms are streetside). Streetside rooms should only be rented if they get some decent soundproof windows (+ventilation/airco)

It was noisy outside and there was little choose for breakfast. I have stayed in many ibis styles but I would avoid this one. One day we woke up to a pigeon beating eaten by a seagull outside and our room was full of flies one day.

My brother and I are two college-aged students who backpacked around Europe for six weeks in Summer '07. When we went to Caen, as a central location for visiting the D-Day Sites, we decided to stay at this hotel. The hotel is a very easy, very safe 10-15 min walk from the train station. It is centrally located in Caen and has a nice, big supermarket about 100 yards away. The city itself is very nice. Nearby internet cafes and bike rental. Very nice choice if you're going to stay in Caen.

Within easy walking distance of the restaurant district and major shops, this is a very conveniently placed hotel. Rooms are clean and furnished in standard Ibis style, that is to say functional but perfectly adequate for most tastes. Breakfast is OK but if you like a cooked meal then you will be disappointed as cold meats and cheese are the order of the day. Service from the reception staff was second to none with all staff we saw being polite, friendly and extremely helpful. Good value for money this Caen hotel is hard to beat.

This hotel is an older style Ibis hotel, with small rooms (even by Ibis standard) and is not up to par compared to the newer Ibis Style properties. It seems that some of the so-called Ibis Styles properties think that more colorfully-painted walls are all it takes to deserve the Ibis Style branding - if that does in fact adhere to corporate standard and guidelines, it is a sad statement and reflection of the Ibis brand.

In any case, my biggest complaint for this property is that the rooms are not air-conditioned. I had booked this property because the hotel description clearly stated that their rooms are air-conditioned. When I showed the printout to the receptionist, she admitted that the description is an error, as this hotel has no air-conditioned room.

I was offered a small fan for the room, which was not effective in cooling down the room, especially since the small window, when opened, offered little or no air circulation into the room at any time. As a result, I did not sleep well for both nights of my stay. There was no other attempt at service recovery. I certainly would not have booked this hotel had I known that, contrary to their website description, this hotel has no air-conditioned rooms.

Response from Stéphane H, Manager at Ibis Styles Caen Centre Historique
Responded Aug 21, 2019
Hi. It seems that you didn't like the decoration of our hotel that sound old for you. However the hotel was completely refurbished in 2016 and our clients really like it. Moreover the hotel has never had air-conditioned since its building in 1988 and it is written nowhere in the site. It is real there were only an error in the description of the double room in foreign languages in the confirmation of the reservation you received and we thank you for having mentioned that and help us to amend it. We are sorry you were disappointed and hope you will find the hotel that correspond your expectations. Regards

Just a great wee hotel. The rooms are quite small but if you are only looking a place to stay with a little style it is a great place. The staff are wonderful and are very healthful in every way. The breakfast is great and they clean the rooms very well. Would really recommend this to anyone.
