August 2018 - 5 nights - I needed a place to stay with my 2 daughters so we rented a standard studio for 3. The room was simple, clean and spacious, the bathroom was very adequate, and the kitchen was very well equipped (2x hobs, fridge microwave, toaster, coffee machine & kettle). The mattresses are firm, we slept really well! The local buses stop outside the hotel door - both for the train station or the city centre, very handy! Finally I don't think that previous reviewers ever stayed in a 2 star hotel for this price before, expecting a 4-star standard seems unreasonable. To answer some of the negative comments here are my comments: 1) this is a small local hotel, and as such the staff do not speak English. This is not unusual or surprising that IN FRANCE, they will only speak French in a small family-run hotel. 2) price - it was made very clear to us at check in that breakfast was not included and that there is a local tax to pay per day. 3) the hotel DOES have a breakfast room. I was so annoyed to read that people expect full English breakfast. While some big hotel have been able to offer this in recent years, it is not custom to serve FEB in France, anywhere else (hence the name "continental" breakfast). 4) smoking - there was a cigarette smell in the corridor one evening. I asked the manager about this, and he explained as per regulations, the hotel is non-smoking throughout. He has slipped notes under doors and reminded customers verbally, but what else can he do? Again it is a small hotel with no impressive security staff, and he cannot turn business away... As an extra note about France, you will see many people enjoying breaking the law (while driving, smoking on train platforms etc), it is a little like a national sport!

Good private parking around the back of the hotel, just off a main street. Theres not a lot in the local area post 9pm - within reasonable walking distance anyway. The staff are helpful, however my room was cold and looked like a student bedsit. Breakfast was included in the price I paid, but it was fairly basic but welcome. I was on a euro-trip therefore only stopped here for 1 night, arriving late and leaving early so didn't get chance to investigate much about the property or the area.

- no english spoken (nor by the lady on friday during checkin- nor by the man from the reception on the following two days) - the price scribbled down on a piece of paper was not correct ; we had to pay 210 euro for two nights breakfast and taxes included. According to their website, the price should have been € 200,40. - room was small and very simply furnished, definitely not the "charm furnished studio" as advertised on their website for this price. - on the first day, there was no more warm water after one bath. The water stayed cold the rest of the day. We had to use the water boiler to make some warm water to brush our teeth - no breakfast room. Breakfast was very simple and served to our room. Not very comfortable. Conclusion: absolutely not worth the money. We feel scammed and will never visit this hotel again.

We stayed in October and got what we paid for. Very budget and very old. The kitchenette was tiny with no oven except a microwave. It has a fridge and two hot plates so very simple cooking. When returning after a day out with the window shut the kitchenette really smelt. The room itself smelt of cigarettes. Tiny bathroom with no power in the shower. Positives: the bed was very comfy. Great location. Aldi right across the road, parking at rear and once the wifi worked, it worked well. Manager does not speak English but we managed.

We stayed here for 3 nights in September. It is clean and comfortable if a little dated. It was nice to have the little kitchenette if only to prepare a little snack. It's a little way out of the town centre, about a €15 taxi ride, so a car is handy. Because it is more on the outskirts it's easy for day trips out of Caen. There is parking available as well as free WiFi. Breakfast delivered to the room includes bread, croissants, cheese, yogurt, coffee (or tea) orange juice and an assortment of jams at a cost of €8/person

We stayed only one night in the studio flat. It is a nicely decorated flat with good cooking facilities. The rooms were clean and bright. Opposite is an ALDI supermarket (late opening on Monday) and a couple of bread shops very near. One was even open on a late Sunday evening. We also found a fruit market next to this bread shop. Breakfast was very nice. The staff was pleasant and helpful. There is also a coiffeur just downstairs. I will definitely book it again if I am in Caen.

We stayed here for 5 nights while exploring the D Day beaches and Mont St Michel. It's off exit 9 of the roundabout outside downtown. The room was small, but clean and had a microwave, fridge with freezer, toaster, coffee maker and hotplate. There's an Aldi directly across the street and a Carefour market a short drive away. Only some staff speak English, but we had no problem communicating and they were helpful. The onsite free parking can get a little tight. For what you get and what you pay, this hotel is a very good value.I would definitely stay there again. No elevator and multiple floors.

As a family of 5 finding accommodation can be tricky. However, Hotel Bellvue was just what we were looking for. It is a little dated in the decor department (room looked like a scene from a 1970's James Bond set), however, it was quiet and comfortable. We had a family room with a double bedroom, living area which contained the 3 kids beds and a kitchenette area. A shower room and separate toilet completed our room and our balcony that looked over the gardens. A good stop-over accommodation, but wouldn't want to spend a week here, although Caen was lovely.
